How do you protect the tree from an 11-month old (and the 11-month old from the tree)? I hate to buy some ginormous baby gate thing that looks awful and takes up a lot of space... Is that really my only option? What have you done?

Protecting the Christmas Tree
Neither of my kids were climbers, so anything delicate went on the top third of the tree and we decorated the bottom with non-breakable stuff. I think our tree is scratchy enough that our boys didn't find it worth messing with.

Believe it or not, none of my kids have bothered it. It's been through N at 1, 2, and 3 and J at 10 months and now 22 months with no issue. I do keep glass off the bottom. Depending on the kid you might be ok

We've never done anything. Six kiddos and maybe a handful of broken ornaments but no biggie. Just put special ornaments up high and get soft ones that they can play with and take on and off the tree. We put a nativity set they can play with under the tree. Lots of special times playing under the tree. I wouldn't worry about blocking it off.Tara
