Anyone's spouses taking the board exam soon? DH will be taking it Sunday so we're heading to Atlanta on Friday!

As I type! DH is taking his pulmonary boards today--we can't wait till this is over, though he has 2 more sets of boards to take next year.

I can't wait till it's over, too! DH will take orals in either spring or fall depending on which date he is selected to take the test. Then, no more boards for 10 years! Yay!!

Does he have to submit a case folder in order to be Certified after his orals or is that a DO thing?

Oral boards only happen after a fellowship, right?

My wife is a DO and I have no clue about a case folder!

It must depend on the fellowship. Mh dh is a fellow and I have never heard him mention orals. He is taken written boards for each type of medicine he completes (4 in all by the time it is said and done!).

I don't know about a case folder being required after orals. I'll have to ask my husband. DH is in his first year post residency. He just has to take the written exam this Sunday and then the orals sometime next spring or fall. Once he passes the orals, I believe he'll be board certified and then won't have to get recertified for another ten years, other than meet annual CME requirements. But, I believe the requirements are different depending on the specialty. For his specialty, the board requirements are set forth by ACEP, so Matt, for your wife's specialty the board certification requirements are probably determined by ACOG.

Well, we're off to Atlanta in a few minutes! Matt & Sue, congrats to your spouses for finishing their boards! Now, for the wait!
