Wow, I hope that everyone is doing ok. That is a tough situation.

As I read that, I was thinking of all the things at their home that are being unattended. Do you know anyone in the area who can go and check in on their house (if needed)? Maybe you could offer to send emails or make phonecalls on their behalf to update friends and family.

My cousin and his wife lived in Austin for 3 years. If you need advice about a specific location or service, I can ask them. I'm not sure what kind of things could be done, but you might try locating a Mothers of Multiples group in Austin and pass that along to your friend. A friend of mine with twins found a "support mom" (a woman who had twins a few years prior) through the MOM group where I used to live. Here is their website: http://www.austinmom.org/membership_welcome.htm

There's another group for parents of multiples but I can't come up with the name right now. Gift certificates to that grocery store would be a great gift!

Good luck to them; that sounds really hard.

I've been to Central Market in Houston. It's a great grocery store, but pricey, so I agree with Nellie that they'd appreciate gift certificates. The store sells gourmet produce, cheeses, bakery items, etc and also sells pre-made gourmet meals.

I also like Nellie's suggestion to make phone calls on their behalf.

of the many things I miss about San Antionio, Central Market is in the top two, but they are EXPENSIVE. (even compared to DC prices, if that gives you any indication.)

Austin is a great town, but not when you're stuck inside- there are tons of smallish misuc venues and some fantastic restaurants. One thing might be to pull up any of the online city guides and see what's happening. As much as they want to be with the babies, they need to eat, too.

Central Market is owned by HEB Grocery stores, based in San Antonio. I think gift cards for HEB also work at CM.
