20. What was your most memorable birthday? For my 10th we rented The Sound of Music because my mom mentioned she loved it when she was a girl, so I wanted to see it. I still love that movie. We were also all going to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, but that morning my little brother fell off the porch into the hedge wearing shorts and got a huge nasty scrape all across his buttcheek (seconds after actually declaring "I won't get hurt!"). He cried and cried and I was afraid the museum outing would be cancelled, but the little troooper sucked it up and we went and had a great time. The End.

26. Coke or Pepsi? I grew up in a house with a strong brand loyalty to Pepsi, but now I'm a Coke person (it's less sweet). I haven't entirely come out to my family yet.

34. Piercings? Ears. Got the first hole when I was eight, and then when I was 13 I added a second hole by myself in the bathroom with a sewing needle and an apple. I almost passed out. A year later I did a third hole only in the left ear. After my early 20s I went back to just one hole per ear.

About 8:00 am (the kids read quietly in bed from about 7am when they wake up until I haul myself out of bed - I need a ton of sleep lately!)

Neither. I prefer semi-precious stones IF anything at all (I generally do not wear jewelry and I don't own a single pair of earrings - by choice).

I wanted to be a vet when I was little. Then someone pointed out you have to see the sick and sad pets all the time, so I picked architect as a more "practical" vocation. It wasn't until college that I realized that you have to see the sick and sad pets, but you get to HELP a lot of them too, and although you have to cut them open and do routine surgeries like spays, bodies are COOL. So I wanted to be a vet again.

And then after working as an assistant/tech for a year and loving it, I realized that you have to do a lot of school to be a vet, and you have to do a lot of prereqs that aren't covered by a physics major, and that vet schools are seldom in the same cities as medical schools.

C'est la vie.
