  • Target or WalMart?

I like to buy things at good value but Target always seems more organized and less people.

Are prices the same at both stores? If Target is more expensive, how much more?

    thanks

I think Target is more expensive, but not that much more.....and I HATE going into Wal-Mart! It sets my nerves on edge, takes at least twice as long, and totally stresses me out. So whatever "extra" I spend by going to Target is well-worth the money, in my opinion.

I definitely prefer Target. And I have no idea where the nearest Wal-Mart is. I would guess that Wal-Mart is less expensive but not by a whole lot. Like Sally, if there was a Wal-Mart close by, it's a price difference I am glad to pay!!

They just opened a new Target 2.9 miles from my house.

I prefer Target. I rarely have to wait in line for more than a minute or two, and the aisles are usually free of people restocking, although the shelves are stocked.

At Walmart, I have to wait in line for what seems forever, the aisles are full of unpacked merchandise and the shelves are unstocked.

Walmart is slightly less expensive and has groceries.

Plus, Target is knocking off Mid Century designers and I'm a sucker for Mid 20th Century design.

When we lived in CA we ALWAYS went to Target, I refused to go into a Wal-Mart. Since we've moved to MN we only go to Target when we're looking for something "nicer" or something we can't find at Wal-Mart. The Wal-Mart here is a SuperCenter and isn't near as crowded as the one we dealt with in CA, plus the checkers actually speak english!

I can't stand Wal-Mart and try to avoid it as much as I can. I like Target because they have wider aisles, nicer carts, bigger selection and seem to carry higher quality stuff. They just opened a Super Target somewhat close to us and I love it!

Neither if I can help it.

I am staging my own personal protest against Wal-Mart, anyway. Expecially since they don't cover birth control but do cover Viagra for their employees...

Target, Target, Target! I checked to make sure they had Target in KC before I told dh we could go there.

I'm slightly addicted. Example: dh bought a very, very spiffy digital camera for me for Christmas (the one with a lens like a regular camera, but it's digital). When I balked about how much it cost, his explanation was that if it kept me out of Target to get film developed every couple weeks, then we'd save the $ in a couple months!

I always vow not to return to Wal-Mart but yet I continue to do so, despite the fact that 1)Even though it claims to be a "supercenter" where I can do grocery shopping with everything else, they never have basics like bananas! It's not ok to come home sans bananas when you live with a little chimp! 2) The people (customers and workers alike) are so RUDE! 3) There are sometimes suspicious types hanging around there (both outside and inside)...who appeared to be ganglike with red bandanas....and whistled at me as I was leaving the last time OK, I'm not going back. I LOVE TARGET!!

I'm going to step up here and say that I really like Wal-Mart. I find it to be much cheaper than Target for many things. I do almost all of my grocery shopping there and save a substantial amount doing it. For me, right now, the inconvenience and hassle of the disorder of Wal-Mart is worth it in the savings in my groceries. I can also find really cheap, but cute clothes there on occasion for my daughter, and shoes. I just purchased my daughter two pairs of very cute shoes, that will hopefully last her a month or two for $9.00. It would have cost me $12 - $15 at Target for one pair of shoes for her. She grows too fast to justify that for me. I did get my son's last pair of shoes at Target.

I think Target, in general, has better style when it comes to things to put around your house, for example, but honestly, most of the time, I'm looking for cereal and milk. When I want a lamp or throw pillow or something like that, I will check Target. The Target by me doesn't carry groceries. There are a few Super Targets around the country, but none here. I haven't ever checked the prices of their groceries because it doesn't apply to me. So, at this time in my life when I am not exactly swimming in it, I'll brave the lines at Wal-Mart and thank them for providing me a cheaper alternative. I save over $100 on groceries a month by shopping there.

Target by far! I'm anti-WalMart after reading an article about what they did to Vlassic and Levi's. Not to mention they hand out welfare applications with their employment apps! And I love Target to start with anyways!

My experience with Walmart is that they may have slightly lower prices but the quality of their items is so subpar it isn't worth any cost. Every time I have bought clothing for my children from that place it has literally fallen apart at the seams within weeks of purchase. The only things that I have ever bought there that haven't quickly fallen apart were some large plastic tubs....

I adore Target. The quality is much better than Walmart's and the prices are definitely within breathing room. Additionally, I think whoever does the vendor shopping for the home items seems to have good taste overall. I have been a bit dissappointed in their little girl clothing lately (over size 6 stuff) because it used to be quite modest and age appropriate but it's gradually going the way of the Brittney Spears look (which Walmart hit loooong ago - literally cheap clothes that look cheap! ).

My husband always rolls his eyes when I say I'm going to Target because he KNOWS I'll come back with more than I intended to buy.

Oh - and it also helps that all of the Targets I've been to are kept clean, neat, and well-organized. The Walmarts I've walked through have been overwhelmingly filthy and in complete disarray.
