I'd love to contribute somehow, too. I love writing (I actually used to kind of be good at it, I guess ), but you know what they say about not using it and losing it.....

It would probably be especially cathartic (I think that's right?) to write about balancing work/motherhood/med spouse roles....although I think Kelly wrote a great piece on this before.

I could probably right a funny rendition of my labor and delivery saga from the perspective of a nurse with a doc husband (although there was really nothing funny about it at the time!!!)

I'll try to keep everyone interested informed along the way. We are happy to have so many people willing to help. From what I understand, it was a huge amount of work before as a newsletter. I'm hoping that we can share the burden a little more equally - and also get input and submissions across a wider base. I will contact you directly about specific ideas.

Our first issue will focus on "New Beginnings". (Appropriate to many of those who have moved, and to the newsletter! ) It may be a bit light on content; we have been struggling with establishing our format and future plans. We hope to have the issue up soon. For our Sept/Oct issue, we will present articles about recent changes in residency programs - particularly the 80 hour work week. We plan to have a financial column, a marriage and family life column, a review on living in a certain area of the country, and a column of fun activities (hobbies and sports) in every issue. We will accept editorials on topic and publish letters from readers.

I am sending out PMs to people that I think *might* be interested in helping as well as those that have responded to this thread. If you aren't interested, but receive a PM from me.......sorry!! I'm trying to be inclusive and not pushy at the same time. It's a tricky thing. If you would like to be on my list of freelance writers and have not been contacted, PM me. You aren't committed until you accept an assignment.

I would love to participate in any capacity. Do we pick the topics ourselves? I don't really have any horror stories that come to mind.

It's great to see so many interested people. I'm sorry I've been so SLOW to get things running. We had a server outage for awhile, followed by a software glitch which required a new install of software. It ended up being a good thing because the latest version of the software is fabulous...but...also incompatible with the previous version. I'm in the process of re-uploading all files, organizing, etc...and it is taking me forever because I have to do it in when the kids are busy and I can get a free minute.

We rented a video for the kids and I'm sitting them all down this afternoon so that I can get his baby FINISHED. :! I suppose I should feel guilty about that, but I don't.

It's so much fun getting things all revved up again. Once I get the actualy journal website back into working condition I will be installing an administrative backend for all authors....and will give you info on how to register for the actual journal backend as well.

Angie and I will toss around topic ideas with those of you intersted in 'authoring'

It sounds like there are some really fun article ideas and that we are all going to have lots of fun working on this.

I feel like I could contribute but not sure where to start. Topic suggestions would be helpful!
