BF and I just went to the Melting Pot a few weeks ago for our first date night in a long time... I can't wait to go back, even if it's just for dessert!

Geez! This reminds of the cast-iron fondue pot that we have lugged around and have never used. After receiving as a wedding gift over 10 years ago. We will have fondue in 2006 or its out of here! There's my New Year's resolution.
As of last night, we weren't doing anything. As of 9am this morning, we are having 8 adults and 7 kids in our "cozy" house for penne w/ spicy vodka sauce, mac and cheese for the kids, and root beer floats. I'm doing the pasta dishes and everyone else is bringing a side. Mostly neighbors with young kids -- we'll be done by 8pm. And the best part, DH is cleaning the house to help get ready!
Happy New Year!!

I have never been to the Melting Pot, I keep telling my dh that if he really wants to surprise me he'll get a sitter and take me there!
I ended up ordering pizza. I think I'm going to open up the sofa sleeper, put some movies in and the kids and I will have a little slumber party.Awake is the new sleep!

Wow Annie - that's a mistake you won't forget. I would never have been able to tell I got the wrong one from the label! And they would have uncorked it already - for the whole fancy smell-the-cork thing.
I can feel my stomach sinking just at the thought of opening that bill. I hope it was a good bottle of wine!

We still had to pay cost for the bottle, which we split between couples. The manager did give us free dessert coupons for the "mistake." We never did go back and use them.
Lesson learned...scrutinize your wine labels.
Geesh.
Thomas and I went out to a restuarant called 'corks' the other night and they offered us a special wine that is $30/glass and I thought THAT was expensive. I wouldn't have gone back for the free desserts either.

Happy New Year, everyone! It's been fun reading about everyone's plans. This is our first year with a baby. We went out for pizza, DD is now sleeping, and we are going to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and have some champagne. I doubt I'll be up at 12.
Fondue is so fun - we were at The Melting Pot in DC and it was yummy. Annie, I can't believe they made you pay for their $500 mistake!

Well...we went out with our friends last night to our first grown up New Year's Eve party since having our kids 9 years ago. May I be the first to state that I have lost my ability to party. I had a martini before dinner, wine with dinner, mojitos at the party followed by champagne. Today, I feel like death warmed over. Bleh. Bleh. What was I thinking???? It was fun though. Dancing and revelry. Oh, and noisemakers. Next time, though....I'll claim to be a recovering alcoholic and abstain. No need letting everyone know that I'm a total lightweight.Angie

So.... uhhh.... we are pathetic, or maybe sleep deprived, but we almost forgot that last night was New Year's Eve. We remembered at 1130 pm as we were heading to bed. What's even funnier, we were playing video games- I gave dh a Gamecube for Christmas, anyway while we are playing I kept asking who is and why are they are fireworks going off?
I blame it on sleep deprivation......

We ended up ringing in the new year with a big question that was answered with a yes, followed by some tears with a bit of a delayed reaction from me. Poor guy had just about every plan go wrong, but somehow that made the whole proposal seem more like us.
Something I won't be telling our families.... we were in our PJ's, complete with DFs "Who Flung Poo" monkey t-shirt. Ah, how romantic.
Now to figure out what to do... to destination or get married in the wedding money pit that is New Jersey.

Congrats!
and http://www.weddingsinitaly.com did my friends entire wedding in Florence. Yeah, it didn't suck. and it was 10 grand total, including airfare. (of course, she didn't pay for anyone elses airfare but if they're in Jersey, they can get cheap flights to Europe, anyway!)
