POOP!! Did your SO interview elsewhere for prelim years? Would you be able to do transitional where you live now? Keep your current job and just delay moving? Keep us posted.

He didn't really put a lot of effort into his prelim year, thinking that he'd just jump on where ever he matched for residency. Now we're trying to scramble aruond to make sure we've got everything set up ok for the match. As for staying here, UF also has most of their spots promised out already, so who knows where we're going to be next year. I guess we will be in the match and then march 16th find out. I'm thinking we may actually be stuck in the scramble come march 14th. What fun!

Why prelim year? Sorry if this has been answered previously. Required? Too tired to read the whole thread. DH chose transitional year over prelim and we are thankful for it. Only about half of the months had call and of those about half were not overnight calls. Plus lots of electives including forensic path that was only 3-4 hours per day. Not a bad year considering...

As a "lazy" ophtho resident-to-be, a TY would be ideal. However, DrDVM and I move as a team, and it would be better for her career to not have to leave an area after only a year. Very few ophtho programs offer TY at the same institute.

UPDATE: LSU-S is "cautiously optimistic" that I'll be able to do a prelim there.

You guys need to live next door to a dentist and a chiropractor and man, your neighborhood would be SET.
