I recently overheard a conversation about the medical "stereotypes." I did not participate but it was entertaining. It was all given in an affectionate way...not snotty but it's pretty "loaded." Might offend a few here...FYI

Keep in mind NONE of this came from DH....but most came from surgeons....

OBGYN: absolutely NOT real surgeons. "it's like a child finger painting and being called an "artist."

UROLOGY: not dedicated enough to do CT or NEURO surg. so they settled for Dick.

IM docs: "the thinking docs" why DO anything when you can think it to death and send the patient on to someone who actually is qualified to implement

ER docs: people who want to be docs but send the real problems on to more qualified people -- usually outdoor junkies

CT: completely arrogant in everyway . the definition of a@#hole

Peds surgeons: the "play nice" surgeon. someone who wants to make less than an adult surgeon...WHY WHY WHY???

Radiology: not real docs -- photography professionals

Anesthesia: people who want to be involved in procedures but don't want the responsibility of being in charge -- second string people and happy to support

Trauma surgeons: cowboys (or girls) -- the more f%$#@% up the patient is, the better. bring it on

NEURO surg. : serious god complexes in abundance

I could go on but I have to run.
Medicine is such a WEIRD field!
