Well, I used to be bargain shopper and I will still keep track of certain annual sales . . . but I reached the point where I felt like bargain shopping didn't pay off as much. Gas prices went way up and I started to calculate how much money I could make consulting/freelancing in the 3 hours it would take me to drive to/from TJ Maxx and troll around, and it was not worth the savings. Especially because I didn't find it fun the way some people enjoy bargain hunting.

So, now I mainly mail order from a short list of what I consider to be moderately priced, good value for the money clothes places: garnet hill, patagonia, prana, athleta, and eileen fisher (will wait for them to mail me coupons on eileen fisher). My whole goal in terms of clothing is to find things that feel like pajamas but can be worn to work or out. . .

I hate buying clothes for myself right now. It's no fun to buy clothes when you're not happy with your weight... I've still got some old size 4 clothes in my drawers that haven't seen the light of day since I moved to Chicago... Moan.
