  • What are your Thanksgiving plans?

I always have to work the day after Thanksgiving (5am!) so DH's parents and brother are coming here. They're getting in around 4 so we'll have Thanksgiving dinner, then I'll work on Friday then we're going to a B&B for Friday & Saturday nights. The plan was to ski (if you can call it that in MN) Saturday but its 70 degrees here today so I'm not sure there will be any real or fake snow.

My MIL is bringing the pumpkin pies and the wine. We'll make everything else - Turkey, cranberries (out of a can), my yams, and I'm not sure what else - we'll see.

We are having a friend's family over. I am making all the stuff once again this year, but at least it won't just be the kids and I this year like it was last year. Wohoo. I will be making a feast!

Anyone in the South who doesn't have plans, I am a kickass cook, you are welcome to crash!

Oh, I should clarify that we're ALL going to the B&B - me, DH, MIL, FIL and BIL. They chose the B&B b/c it was the best accomodations they could find near the skiing hill.

The residents here work EITHER Thanksgiving OR Christmas, this year DH chose Thanksgiving so we'll be staying home. It's not so bad, really, he's on call Wednesday and Saturday and that's it! Thanksgiving Day we're going to MIL's, that's about it.

Does anyone do the day-after-Thanksgiving Christmas shopping craziness (aside from poor Cheri )? I did it one year and that was enough for me.

I am splitting up the Thanksgiving cooking with a friend (her DH is oral surg). We will have T-giving later in the day at my house (both men are on call and will be rounding, etc). Their kids are the same age so it should be fun.

We'll be making the 6 hour treck, with both dogs in tow, to my parent's house. I'm really trying to milk the student status while we can, so I've already warned my mom to expect a lot of laundry (she know I'm kidding). Last year we stayed at home and ordered a pizza, so it will be nice to spend Thanksgiving with family this year.

I am making dinner for 9 to 11 people! We don't have room for that many, so it should be interesting. The good news is we actually like all these people. My husband is on autopsy call, so he may or may not be there (he's one of the two question marks).

My parents will come over early in the day to "help cook" and hang out, and then my brothers and their families will show up whenever. Should be a chaotic but good time.

We're leaving here to fly to Maryland on the 18th. On the 19th we're going to a fab Inn and out for dinner and leaving Nikolai with his grandparents. (that's my birthday present from my husband that my mother totally arranged, at my request). Tuesday, my birthday present from my parents and brother and SIL is a morning at the spa and then mom is taking me out for lunch. (just us girls). Wednesday the crazy Ohio/Indiana relatives arrive. (My cousin is bringing his girlfriend...) Thursday Rick and I are doing a Turkey Trot (he's doing a 10k, I'm doing a 5k). My cousin Elizabeth is coming out from DC for the day. Some time in there I'm supposed to meet up with my bestest friend and meet her new baby and I'm supposed to meet up with my other bestest pal (room-mate from college) for lunch. and I'm supposed to go check out a methadone clinic in Baltimore.

                      I think that's enough, don't you?

We're going to the PD's house for dinner, but I'll cook a small turkey at home too because DH likes having leftovers.

Oh, there will be copious amounts of wine involved all week. My dad has a lengendary "hard pour". There are reasons why people just spend the night at their house.

This year is my family's turn to get us for Thanksgiving. My mom and stepdad will be in Aruba so we will be spending it with my dad and the stepmonster. It's only an hour away though so it won't be that bad except that SO is (very!) allergic to cats and my dad has two of them! I'm going to cook our dinner because the stepmonster doesn't like having turkey and mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving.

Vishenka, Jenn, Cristina.... Do you know any Russian dishes that would go well with your typical Thanksgiving meal? I'm trying to extend the olive branch...

Anyway, the next day ("Black Friday") is my birthday so we'll probably do some shopping!

ETA: And I'm making Cranberry Margaritas for us to drink all day! Let me know if you want the recipe!!

I'm not huge on family together time, so I have a hair appt on Thursday late afternoon. I'm thinking of may be having mine and his parents over for a lunch but only if either insists on it. Friday I'm thinking of doing an anti-Thanksgiving dinner party for friends. DH is actually off on Thursday and Saturday and back-up on Sunday, so I'm also hoping for some QT.
