Sorry, Jenn. I wish you could come here.

I'm actually not upset about it. I was kind of not looking forward to corraling the boys at what I can only assume is not a kid-friendly house.

We invited my parents up here for Thanksgiving but they didn't want to come so it's just me and DH. We'll probably make some side dishes and there will be turkey for DH.

We are now going to our neighbors house and that should be fun. DH is still post-call though.

Jesher, Now you can have a relaxing Thanksgiving at home with the family....just don't cut back on the amount of food you prepare, though, so that you can send some leftovers my way!

DH has the week off so we'll be flying home to spend Thanksgiving with our families. I'll be bringing several of iMSN's Turkey Day recipes along with me, though!

In that case, I wish we could come over to your house.

We are doing dinner at our place this year. DH will be there for once! His sister is flying in from Dallas and 2 of our friends are coming. We rarely have the opportunity to have family for turkey day, so getting the sister is a plus this year. Even though, she is THE princess of the family and extremely difficult we are happy that she will bless us with her presence. :>

It's not really a family event but it will be fun.
I am getting a turkey + sides from Whole Foods and making extra vegetarian dishes for the princess.

OH - and there will be pomegranate martinis and cham-pagn-ya!!!!!
And we will be playing some games. Balderdash, Trivial Pursuit (80's entertainment version!) and who knows what else.

Oooh ... we had that experience one year. BIL had agreed to bless us with is presence, then called a week later and said "You know I'm a vegetarian now, right?" I had a 19 month old, a 2 month old and was preparing T-Day dinner for 8. My long-time vegetarian friend said "That's BS. If I'm invited to someone's house, I make do with what is there. There is always SOMETHING meat free."

My cousin suggested I make him a log cabin out of meatless hot dogs. Had I had the time (or money) I would have.

ug, dh's father is a vegetarian. he insists on tof-urky (sp?) at thanksgiving. he has been veggie for 30 some odd years. he is genuine about it which i respect, but preparing food that is NOT pasta is hard for me.

I agree. I was vegetarian for quite a while and that is what I always did. Especially at Thanksgiving -- there is plenty to eat. Or bring your own dish.

it makes being both easier. you don't have to worry about meat days or dairy days, or buying kosher meat. still - eating at other people's homes would be a problem b/c it's not a kosher meal if it was prepared in a non-kosher kitchen (even if you followed all of the other rules).

Yeah! We are having Thanksgiving with a friend and some of her family so we will have 12 people. Besides being nice company, I have justification to make 3 pies. I'm going to do the rolls and cranberry sauce too.
