  • Where Christmas Trees Come From

There's been quite a buzz around our house the past two days . . . literally! Behind our house is a huge Christmas tree farm that is on quite a slope. See below:

That picture was taken on Tuesday, when we had a rare snow event in November. (Maybe an inch at most).

Anyways, I've been wondering how they would harvest the trees. Now I know. I was in our bedroom putting stuff a way when a helicopter buzzed our window. It was so close that it seemed I could touch it. My dd has waived to the pilot several times and he waves back!

The helicopter picks up several trees at a time and take them to truck sitting at the end our street and very precisely dumps it in the truck. It's quite fascinating!

And, while I was neglecting my kids to take these pictures, I returned to find this:

Wow that is very cool - I suppose someone is on the ground cutting them and loading them? Sure beats towing or dragging them I'm sure.

You should just have him drop one off at your front door!

DH and I have been joking that they wouldn't notice if one christmas tree was missing directly behind our house with drag marks to our sliding glass door.

While that is fascinating, I would imagine the noise is a PITA. I had to click to get the properties & cut &paste in my browser to see the photos...I love the one of the trees w/ the snow on them. I love the feeding one...too cute!
