i've been playing a little baby name game with my sister for quite awhile now (you know how girls always dream about the future husband, babies, etc)

we think of our most favorite name for each letter of the alphabet and then we choose. . .

    alexandra

    ?

    chloe . . . and so on!

you shouldn't be TOO confused when you finish!

The only problem with popular names is that your child ends up feeling badly when there are a million other kids with their name. My little sister Sarah (beautiful name) came home the first day of grade one crying and saying there were five Sarah's in her class. Even her best friend's name is Sarah! Anyway, when we named our girls, we were looking for names that everyone would know how to spell (saves you from spelling your last name only, as I have always had to do), and that were equally strong yet feminine, without one twin sounding like they were more lucky in the name department. Hard call. Hence Grace and Natalie. I love the name Carolyn.

Just for fun, here are the other names we considered... they are traditional, but they are classic and timeless, and they would never sound dated.

          Evelyn

Rosalind or Rosalyn (I think this is my next favorite)

          Caroline

Eleanor (Ella is a great nickname)

          Maud

          Sonja

          Charlotte

          Joan

          Emma

          Jane

What about picking some great names that vitually nobody is using right now. What about...

          Mary

          Martha

          Desiree

          Bianca

          Phoebe

          Christine

          Katherine

          Elizabeth

          Lydia

          Johanna

          Iris

          Violet

          there are sooooooo many!

Whatever name you choose, your baby will wear it proudly and will be so suited to that name. I cannot imagine calling my girls anything else.

I am partial to the name Emma (we named our daughter that).

Taryn is a nice name too. But I can see how it can get mispronounced.

Other names we considered when naming Emma-

                Madison Renee

                Sariah

McKenna (not one of Matt's favorite names)

                Sierra

You will know what to name her when you see her. It is good that you have some names picked out.

                Crystal

Here's an interesting idea- if you go to the social security web site (as I often must for work) you can get the most popular names for each year going way back. The website is: http://www.ssa.gov It's pretty cool- my book-keeper is pregnant so I downloaded the information for her. (PS she's naming her daughter Sabrina Grace)

If I have ever a daughter I plan to name her Jamison (my mother's maiden name) Loreine. Loreine was my middle name (as you can see from my 'name' here) and it was my mother's as well, she was named after my grandmother's sister. Now my family has has some of the most gawdawful names ever:

                            My grandmother's name is Ruthadell

My great-grandmother's name was Anathia (Anna thigh a)

but the best ever was my friend from 6th grade- her grandparents were Leonidas and Eulalia. excellent...

And avoid Jennifer- my parents thought they were being soooo original- who knew that in four shourt years "Love Story" would come out and suddenly everybody was naming their daughters Jennifer.
