Passive/aggressive people suck. I don't handle them particularly well. (I know, what a surprise.) Typically, I do things like this: , which doesn't go over very well.

Wow! When did we get to the point of not allowing kids to enjoy their childhood?

I am room mom for dd 2nd grade class, and another mom that assisting me emailed me to tell me that the goodie bags being handed for the upcoming Halloween Party, she wanted to keep them candy free. I politely emailed her back saying that I was only planning on putting 3-5 small (like Hershey Kiss size) candies in the bags, along with pencil, eraser, fun book. You would have thought from the email I was planning on handing out a 5 lb. bag of miniature candy bars to every child in class. I also told her I wasn't going to police the children and their candy consumption that it was up to their parents to do so. I then gave our tradition for what we do with the Halloween candy.

I, too, check this thread frequently.

This is one of the best lines I have heard in a while. I wish more parents would think like this.

Now I am off to plan snack for my DD's gluten free, pork free, nut free, vegetarian 3yr old preschool.

We have friends whose daughter has a peanut allergy and she claims that the daughter "tested positive" for being allergic to chicken and pork. Is that even possible?

(mom is a vegetarian and dad is a total meat-eater. unfortunately, mom is raising her a vegetarian but the kid eats nothing green. She subsists on veggie dogs, apples and baby carrots..)

It may be worth mentioning that organic farming can be cruel to animals. Because the laws are still pretty sketchy on it, farmers often don't treat their animals for lice, worms, any of the things they're commonly dosed for. So that chemical free beef may mean that the poor animal never received an antibiotic when needed and just suffered along. Not saying that all organic farms operate this way but it's better to go for free-range.

Hijack over! Sounds like the lady would like to hear this though.

I have a friend who tested positive for allergies to a specific amino acid that is present in something like 98% of all fruits. She had other serious health issues so when they were trying to find a diagnosis, they stumbled upon this wonky allergy. Poor gal has a hell of a time finding things she can eat.

Oh, I've been meaning to update this- so my BFF has had crazy health problems ever since she had her first child. Seriously, crazy weird bizarre stuff like veins and arteries crossing and making her have to wear compression hose at 43 yo. (forever, too)

So, one of the things she developed was she gets thickening of her esophagus- it develops rings and she can't swallow. (she unfortunately found this out while chewing a bite a steak. 12 hours later she was in the ER because it was still stuck). She decided to finally get allergy tested and OMG- I have no idea what she's going to eat:

                                Corn, Wheat and Rice
                                Beef, Chicken, Pork
                                Dairy, Soy

She's starting with eliminating the Dairy and the Wheat and hopefully that will help. I mean what doesn't have corn or corn products in it?

She's going to have to move to Ireland and only eat Salmon, Oatmeal and Lamb.
