    Another thing to look at is tonal contrast. If you black-and-white-ify the photo, does the door and trim still pop in a way that's pleasing? I like all of the last three with the red door. I think they're blue enough that it contrasts nicely.

      Is it weird to have a house that is red, white, and blue? Does it read that way?

      Also, I noticed a lot of my neighbors don’t paint contrasting trims in the back of their houses. Is that a cost thing? I have a walk out basement and I’m thinking 3 stories of endless sea could be a lot without the white trim to break it up
