Still doing low carb and working out. DH and I bike a few miles to the park several days a week with the boys. He's saying I'm getting so good that I need to tow the bike trailer now! I'm to the point where I have very little appetite and have to make myself eat. I plan to reach my goal weight by Thanksgiving.

My Challenge: I tend to get really focused on work, or whatever I am filling my day with and I forget to eat, so when I do eat I eat stuff that really isn't so great for me. My weight is pretty much where I want it but I wish I was healthier. Oh and sometimes I eat mindlessly, like when I am working and I grab some chips, I eat the whole bag, that cannot be good for me.

I usually try to commit to a weeks worth of change. This week it was walking the dogs every day for an hour, next week, perhaps some sort of tweak on the old diet, maybe more fruit? And the real reason I walk the dogs is so they will chill out during the day and let me work, it's not really for any sort of weight management (but it works!)

I don't know how you do it! I could never do the low carb/no sugar thing! How much weight have you lost and how much to go (if you don't mind me asking).

I'm in the best shape I've been in since being a college althete but I need to lose a few pounds to fit back into all the clothes I bought last year. I got rid of all my clothes so that I couldn't gain the weight back.... all summer I've been wearing skirts and dresses and I need to lose this weight so I won't have to buy a new wardrobe with fall/winter coming!

I tend to eat out of bordom/stress/anxiety but have gotten better on weight watchers but my big down fall appears to be weekends when I visit family and friends and eat terrible!

My goal for today was to get in some exercise (I haven't the last two days because I've had a mild stomach bug) - and I just got back from running 2 miles.
My goal for this week is to track everything I eat, and to make better decisions/practice portion control on the weekends!

              Marissa,
I've found that low carb is the only way I can lose weight for a couple of reasons: 1) You lose weight quickly, which is very encouraging. 2) I hate counting calories 3) DH will do it with me. 4) it seriously decreases your appetite.
That's how I lost the baby weight the first time around. I've lost about 20 pounds and plan on losing another 40 pounds. Realistically, that probably won't all happen until Christmas. I will be posting before and after pics too!

I was exercising a lot my last year of college. Then April hit and I pretty much stopped with graduation, wedding, etc. I'm probably the only bride ever that gave up dieting in the months before the wedding.

For some reason it is REALLY hard to get back out there and exercise now. I could run a 5k easy, now I'm struggling with 1-2 miles. I used to go on 15 mile hilly bike rides with DH, and it killed me to do 10 miles on flat ground on Monday. I have the Insanity workout, but I just cant seem to get up and do it. I'm signed up for a 5k, sprint triathlon, and duathlon with DH in the next 2-3 months, though.

Dieting wise, I think I am going to try this soon:

                http://www.healthylifestylescourse.com/

I know...it looks sketchy, but it is a local program and I know people personally who have had a lot of success with it...and most importantly, they've kept it off. I've done Weight Watchers 3 times, lost the same 15 lbs, stalled, quit, and gained it all back in about 6 months. I do really well for awhile, but I just cant stand the thought of counting points forever, and it never really helped me address my emotional eating and portion issues. I think it really does work well for a lot of people, though! My problem was if I had 22 points, I'd plan them out and eat them all, regardless of how hungry I was. Plus, I HATED trying to figure out the points value of anything I cooked that wasn't a Weight Watchers recipe. At any rate, the point of the Naturally Slim program is to get you to stop scarfing down food and eat slower, and eventually eat less--and get you off sugar, which is another HUGE problem for me. No forbidden foods either--except sugar for awhile.

ETA---HOLY CRAP--maybe not. It looks like it is $400 without a corporate program. No way I'm paying that. I might know some people who have the booklet though

At any rate, I'm up 8 lbs from my heaviest...I'd like to lose 30-40.

I think I'm going to go on a run soon. Maybe this thread will work!

I have been working on losing weight since March. Since then I am down 20 lbs, and decreased my body fat by 3%. I have another 15 lbs to go and 3% on my body fat to lose. I have the goal of by the end of the year

My goal this month is to make it to the gym 3x a week. This summer while the older two were on summer break, I didn't make it to the gym. Now that we are back on a school schedule, I will be hitting the gym. Dh is joining me in the challenge to have no sweets until Christmas. We said 0 g of sugar in a Diet Mtn Dew or Diet Amp was ok, other than that nothing.

MarissaNicole--I listened to 3/4 of that book on tape a few weeks before the wedding. I cant remember why I didn't finish it--I think it was due back at the library. At any rate, I really liked what I read--made a lot of sense. And made me understand my mid-afternoon craving of anything in the candy bowl.

I've found that diets don't work (for me). I seriously changed my way of looking at food. No more fast food, great reduction in restaurant eating, limiting snacks, a generally healthier approach to eating. But I will not / can not deny myself or count calories b/c then I just spend too much time thinking about what I can't have. I'm officially smaller than I've been in 11 years (which is still not small - but great progress).

                          I'm doing pilates 2xs a week, plus walking or swimming 1 or 2 days /week. I don't own a scale, & don't have a goal weight - I just want to be healthy.

I am going to try and start running again, I got really bored with running and stopped. But I will be back at it, hopefully it will not rain all day tomorrow.

*Sigh* I was on great track losing weight post-pregnancy...then my lactation slowed a bit too. I tried drinking more water...then I introduced more calories. Apparently more calories (and cookies) = more milk supply for baby girl. I'll get where I want to be, but I'll be taking the scenic route! I think it is very doable folks! If you need a pick-me-up, I am often the town motivator, so PM me.

No really - you are all doing great, getting a goal is the most important step and learning to get right back up after falling down (like metaphorically with a bag of chips/cookies/candy/fastfood...) is the second most important. Forgive yourself and keep on going. *big hugs*
