        • Moonlight, are you feeling better?

Sore from cardio bar class yesterday and did a little walking today to clear my head and get out of the house. Sad that walking around the block made me sweat a little.

              • I need a break!! Talk me down or talk me through this. I've been pretty faithful about my diet since the second week of January. 1200 calories a day and I've list 19 pounds. I'm very happy with the results BUT I'd like to lose 20 more.

I'm just so sick of it. And my clothes all fit great now. They are a size larger than I'd like, but still! I'm just HUNGRY. And I want a cookie. Waah!

For the last few days, I've been struggling to get back on track. I exercise as much as possible (5-6 times a week) and have for years so exercise isn't the answer. I've tried previously to lose weight by increasing activity and short of running daily marathons, that ain't happening. I'm an extremely efficient machine .

Any tips on dealing with appetite? I'm going to try cutting out all bread again to see if that helps. I don't eat simple starches much at all but had a few bites of bread pudding at our Valentine's make up dinner date in Saturday right before my hunger spiked to insane new levels.

I'm trying to find a balance between total denial and overindulgence - but jeez. It's hard. A small bite is just a total tease that sets me off for days it seems!

I feel like an addict that's scared of falling off the wagon. Want sugar. Want bakery goods. Need to be admitted to some lock down facility until this passes.....

Does anyone have a system that works for them?

                  • Oatmeal and egg white omlettes help keep me full. I use the old fashioned and add fruit and its very satisfying.
I also like muscle milk light cuz its low cal and high protein.

As far as sweets have you had those fiber one brownies, or chocolate vitamuffins? I'm also a fan of this dark chocolate oatmeal.

ETA: weight watchers is my go to system.

                    • Angie, I would supplement. Instead of sugar, use agave, honey or coconut sugar. Find a recipe that's gluten free for something like cake or brownies, and make it.

You should be able to enjoy treats and carbs, but "make them work for you," so to speak.
Complex carbs will prevent the spike in blood sugar, and satisfy your cravings.

Gluten free mixes that are fantastic - anything by Pamela's. Seriously.

However, if you are a sugar addict, that just takes time to stop feeling the cravings.

                      • Maybe this is too extreme (I very rarely have sugar or sweetener, so I kind of forget what it tastes like), but for sweet cravings (that I can't satisfy with fruit) I mix cinnamon and cocoa (or cacao) powder into a small cup of fat free Greek yogurt. I think the Williams Sonoma cinnamon and cocoa in the little clear containers are the best (their cinnamon seems much sweeter to me). Sometimes I'll throw it in the mixer with a sprinkle of guar gum - its almost like chocolate mousse.., or at least that what I've convince myself of anyhow. Usually I'll dip apples or strawberries in it, but I also sprinkle sliced almonds or pumpkin seeds on it and just eat it with a spoon.

I used to like WW, but when I was trying to slim down for my wedding - it just didn't do much for me. I did a modified version of the Physique 57 diet plan (they have a book, it's basically no wheat, no dairy besides Greek yogurt - they say full fat, no sugar, no processed foods). I think it worked amazingly well.

Also - google the recipe for "sassy water." I think it might be from "the abs diet," but the recipe is posted all over the Internet. I think it helps curb cravings.

                        • Protein pancakes with Greek yogurt and berries are also amazing at satisfying my sweet cravings. I use brown rice protein powder... I honestly can't remember why, ha!

If you try them be sure to drink lots of water.

                          • I'm hitting the water today and had an egg and an egg white for breakfast. My most successful days have started that way. I'm severely lactose intolerant (haven't had any in over 8 years) and these days, even something with milk in it will set off chapped lips, stomach problems and nausea so no yogurt or anything of that ilk.

I think it's the combo of giving up most gluten/carb type things and the dairy that's making me feel limited. At least I can honestly say I'm eating vegetables and clean protein sources. *sigh* When do I turn in to Gwyneth? *snicker*

I like oatmeal ( plain half cup at 150), but prepping a bowl with an apple (92 calories), brown sugar ( or (God forbid) nuts (don't even want to go there), ends up with a calorie count in the 350s, and then I can't eat dinner and lunch unless it's also a 350 (or less) calorie meal. Maybe I'll try it with agave and no nuts.

I've taken to eating entire bags of frozen squash or frozen spinach as snacks. The low calorie count for the quantity (62 calories for 4 cups!) brings me such joy.

Basically, I need a lot of food to feel full - or I start thinking about what else I can eat. LOL I think I should just eat iceberg lettuce for a few days so I'm "full" but under the calorie count. I had a salad at a restaurant recently that was - I swear - an entire head of iceberg and a grilled chicken breast. Very uninspired, but low cal! It was HARD to eat it all. LOL

My sweet cravings are starting to die after 90 minutes of hot yoga and the aforementioned eggs. I swear, it's INSANE that a bite or two can set off three days of yearning. I truly am an addict.

                            • Any thoughts on skipping meals? (Seems like that would help so I could eat a "real" meal once in a while) I know it's ill advised, but damn.

Also, has anyone done Intermittent Fasting? I've seen that with both eating once a day (but a 1000 cal meal) and also with cycled days of extreme low cal and a scheduled higher cal day.

I know I could just plan that out around weekly calorie allotments, but at this point I feel like having a high cal day might just lead me to say F- it all together, so I'm nervous.....
