  • I only allow myself on a scale once a month because it used to feel so demoralizing to not see much difference or even to seen a gain. I'm much happier, more motivated by how I feel (instead of that asshole number), and less likely to throw in the towel in frustration.

    • I don't weigh myself anymore. I am weighed if I go to the doctor or if one of the kids insists when they are playing with the scale when I'm getting ready in the morning. I have learned that I am happier when I work out and worry about toning certain areas rather then my weight.

      • I don't own a scale in my house. I had a very unhealthy relationship with it in college.
I do know how much I weigh, per the recent competition I was in, but I'd rather focus on building muscle/strength/more reps.

Also, new torture: normal stance squat, pulse/hold for 4 count, then go into a burpee from squat, and pull yourself back into the squat/pulse sequence.
        4 sets of 5.
        Holy cow!

        • Almost 1/3 of the year down....how's everyone doing?

It's the only area of my life that I feel like I have any control over, so I'm doing well. Working out 2-4 hours a week and keeping calories under 1500/day or so with pretty good choices. Lots of salads and boiled eggs. I keep adjusting my goal weight down. My free weights have gone up and I can keep up with the ab routines now for the most part. So I'm definitely making gains in fitness.

              • Finally got started, lol. Loving the new WW, fruits and veggies being zero points is awesome! I'm down 5lbs in two weeks and that was with birthday parties, eating out a bunch, and just generally busy.

                • After about 3-weeks of being off the wagon (10 days of which was planned because I was on vacay), I have been good all week and I am back to where I was a month ago (which is 17.5 lbs down from end of December).

                    • Angie, have you considered trying a different exercise to see if you can jump start your metabolism again? Maybe adding a more direct cardio or some weights?

                      • I'm down 10lbs. I would like to lose 5 more before my vacation in June and then I'll consider revising my goal weight. It has been slow but I'm at my pre-kids weight. I don't look the same (bye bye itsy bitsy bikinis) but I'll take it!

                        • The exercise has never jump started my metabolism. Went from couch potato to running four times a week with no weight loss; then switched to hot yoga 5x a week for 90 minute classes. Also no weight loss. Gah! Lost 20 lbs when I started using Lose It though. I do fine when I'm hungry --1007 cals a day now. . I'm losing again. But that's not something I can sustain for more than a month or two. At the higher cal settings I was losing - but like 1 lbs/ month. So slow!! I have started spinning now and I'm thinking of trying HIIT. We'll see.

                          • HIIT type stuff is the only thing that revs up my metabolism. I could do hours worth of cardio and see zero results. With CrossFit 3 times a week, I'm losing weight, gaining muscle, and becoming stronger.

I'm down 10 lbs. and 3" off my waist from the first of the year. My diet isn't perfect, but I feel much better after increasing my protein intake and decreasing my carbs. I'm not carb-free, at all -- I just notice that I feel better when I avoid most wheat-based products.

                            • Started exercising regularly again-yoga, bar method, cardio and feeling much better. My skin is improving (hope I didn't jinx that) and just feel better overall. Sleeping better too, thank goodness. I don't want to lose weight but want to get the lymphatic system moving again. Eating cleaner and drinking a lot more water. Peeing every 20 minutes is not fun though

                              • I am so with you on the peeing! I have been filling and downing those 32 oz work out water bottles throughout the day. Great for the skin, bad for sitting still for any length of time.
