That's a really good point. At the end of the day, I get very caught up in vanity and my size and forget to look at long-term health. Even if I am not losing weight, eating better and exercising should be a primary goal simply for the purpose of making myself healthier. I so wish that I could lose the weight so that I would look more attractive. That should be secondary. It's hard to make it that.

A few years ago, I lost 70 pounds. I did it through daily exercise and simple calorie counting via loseit. I didn't starve myself and the weight loss was nearly effortless until I lost my groove. I gained 35 pounds of that weight back and have tried every crash diet to jump start that loss again ... for 2 years. Maybe for me, it's time to go back to the slow and steady approach. I've lost 2 years trying to crash diet into it.

It stinks getting older. I think that plays a role in our reduced caloric needs too.

Consider this a hug from me to you. It's damned hard.

I was always in awe of your lose it success. If you need more outside push, you could consider weight watchers

I'm just doing the one day cleanse today. I just couldn't bring myself to do it yesterday. So far it's fine. I cheated - had coffee this morning, which I think made a HUGE difference for me. It seems easier not to eat after starting my day with water and coffee. I also had a few sugar free halls defense candies - everyone at work is sick and it is really grossing me out. Since I never really eat artificial sweeteners, I'm not sure this day has been "cleansing" enough... But whatever. I'm off to have drink #4 - although not really feeling like I need it.

I tried the 500-600 calorie days on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was brutal. I'm totally PMSing this week though so deprivation seems like an unsafe bet for my family. Today, I have been picking at carbs. They make me more hungry. I need to stay the F away from them. But fresh bread! So....YUM! If I make it through this week without having a total pig out day, I think I'm doing fine even though I've been less than perfect with my healthy eating choices today.

DH and I are on day 2 of our 3-day juice cleanse.

It's a far less drastic one: three juices (two green, one beet), coconut water and then a sensible dinner.

It's wasn't that bad hunger wise yesterday or today...but holy moly - the juice is terrrrible (and I like veggies)! But the coconut water is the worst. I don't like coconut water to begin with but this seems extra viscous and flavorful. Cannot seem to stop from gagging (drinking these has involved a lot of nose plugging/chugging)

I dread each new juice and I'm so excited to be done. I doubt I'll do this again.

Ironically, part of the reason I wanted to do it was for that really nice clear skin people rave about. However, two days before it was scheduled for delivery, my skin cleared up beautifully and has been looking a ton better...so apparently I just need to THREATEN a juice cleanse for good skin...

            ETA I want bacon.

MrsMD, bacon, mmm...I started drinking Yogi Tea's Detox Tea and it's been nice! I'm not sure if it's the change in new BC, dry brushing, or the tea (or all three?) but knock on wood, any new breakouts have been pretty mild...Hats off to you guys who are doing the juice cleanses, because I am not disciplined enough at all.

Don't know how I missed your post Mrs. MD, Esq.

I agree about the veggie drinks. I could do 3 of the six. The other three were a true challenge. That's why I just dropped them the final two days. I figure if I was hungry enough I'd drink them...but I was never, ever THAT hungry. LOL I also don't like coconut water. I think they may come and take away my yoga addict card for saying that.....

Re: coconut water. Not all coconut water is the same. Growing up drinking coconut water out of a coconut, it tickles me that it is now a trendy/healthy thing to drink because I can now find it almost everywhere. For a long time, I only drank Zico and even ordered it off Amazon every two weeks. Then, the flavor changed and we have not ordered it again. I have tried multiple other brands but none are as close as the real thing. I prefer those that come in bottles or cartons. The canned ones always taste funky to me.

All that to say is that if you did not like one coconut water, you may like another brand. None of the ones I ever tried were viscous as you describe.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I missed your post too. I'm usually all over the crazy fitness/diet posts (stupid job! I'm totally off my game!).

Great work on the cleanse!! Incidentally, I love coconut water, but my DH violently gags anytime he accidentally drinks it (I mix it with teas, kombucha, juice, water etc and he gets caught while trying to sneak a sip of my drink... Makes me laugh).

Yeah, it was odd (I've tried a couple other types and this was far more offensive than the boxed stuff I've had). I think they mixed coconut water with juiced coconut and that made it thicker (you'd think it would make it taste more like coconut milk (which I like), but no).

Haha, that's just evil! I'm glad I did it (even if it was the half-assed version), but I doubt I'd do it again. The third day was actually really easy (I felt like I could easily continue) but I don't think it really made a difference in how I look or feel (but I did drop 6 lbs -- but since I had pigged out the day before, it was probably more like 3lbs. We'll see if it stays off tomorrow when I weigh myself...)

I've done the Dr. Oz cleanse before. I think I *MAY* have lost 3-5 lbs, but it all came back right after I started eating solid foods again. I think it makes you feel lighter, less sluggish and it clears out some of the sugar cravings. I also started Weight Watchers recently and I think that's the easiest/best way to lose weight. I'm eating regular food (just less of it!) which is great in the grand scheme of things. I don't know how some of you are doing long cleanses! You must have some mad will power - Great job!
