It's cool. I didn't think you were blame laying. I find it's easy to do it to myself. I eat a lot of veggies and such. Balancing my sugar/carbs and protein/fats is like walking a tight rope and it's easy to be bummed out and frustrated. I've always struggled with weight. I'm one of those overweight healthy eaters and exercisers. I'm glad to be back on the exercise path. It helps my mind as much as my body. Sometimes I'm shocked at how badly so many people eat and yet aren't overweight or sick. I get headaches from white flour and refined sugar. I still have it once in awhile and I pay for it. I'm probably too hyper aware. I'm glad to have you guys.

Know the terrain and typical conditions of your course. Try to do the exact course or train on very similar. Practice a swim in choppy water, equally hilly if not more bikes and runs, lots of brick workouts! I'm sure you'll be fine with your biking trip to Mallorca! In 2015 I did my last training run on Ibiza. Such gorgeous islands!

I think just continuing to move in whatever way is most comfortable. I speed walked/ran all the way to the end of my first two pregnancies but couldn't my third because I was pushing the stroller. Just keeping your body moving at all is SO good for you. You'll be surprised how quickly you bounce back and how much better you feel once you're not pregnant. The end of pregnancy is VERY uncomfortable. I always feel such physical relief once I'm not pregnant anymore.

That being said, don't overdo it. If you start up too early, you'll just have increased bleeding post partum or injure yourself because you still have all the relaxin. Just ease back into it and you'll be fine.

I'm jumping in here as I am looking to lose 10-15 lbs and just improve my overall fitness. I'm trying to reach 10000 steps daily and have started a combination of speed walking/running and weights 3 times a week. I have a pretty good diet to begin with and eat about 1500 calories a day, I just need to cut my sugar intake. I am exclusively breastfeeding so I'm taking it slow and definitely reluctant to cut back on calories much. DH and I would love to do a 5k in April. He will be able to run but if I'm not ready we'll walk it. I think it's a nice goal to have either way and something to do together.
I think I have pretty bad diastasis recti, which explains the horrible pain around my navel during those last few weeks of pregnancy. I'm 4.5 months post-partum so hopefully it will continue to improve. I see a new family practice doc at the end of February who also specialises in sports medicine so I hope he can diagnose and help me form a plan for strengthening those muscles.

How is everyone doing on their goals one month in?
Out of curiosity, how many "active minutes" a day do you shoot for? Probably easiest for those of you with fit bits to know!

I'm in. I've been brisk walking on the treadmill for 30-35 minutes every single day. No fitbit, I have an Apple Watch though.

So I bit the bullet and went in for a consultation at CrossFit. He talked about the program, philosophy, etc and then did a "quick" workout as a baseline assessment. I was surprised there was no weighing, body fat tests, etc. Just the assessment as quickly as possible: 500 meters on the row, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push-ups, 10 pull ups with the TRX bands. I'M FREAKING SORE TODAY!!!

all of the exercises were really fine except the push ups. I was on my knees but still had to stop and take breaks. That's what I get for going 6 months without lifting weights or going to yoga. But my legs are sore too! So ridiculous.

Big thumbs up! I'm too private to do that in front of anyone, assessment or not.

Yea I dislike failing in front of others but part of the appeal is being in a class and rather small community. I'm going to spend a couple weeks in private lessons before joining the class so I'll feel somewhat confident before going into the group setting.

My workouts at the gym have diminished to 30 minutes intense cardio then reading while I walk at an incline. It's very much time for a change.

You don't do it anymore? How long did you?

So bummed. First priv session was supposed to be this morning. Woke up early for an 8am session (that's early for me!), showed up 5 minutes early, waited outside the door. Waited 20 minutes then left. Sent him an email. He was inside and the door might not have even been locked. I tried opening it a couple times. we have an appointment on Thursday but am so bummed we were both there I didn't even think to knock.
