That stinks that today didn't work out. I did it for a year until we moved two years ago. The location here is awesome but it doesn't really fit into my schedule and now I am doing Orange Theory.

I really, really wish we had an Orange Theory here.

I'm basically going to tell the trainer he needs to look at my food log every week. My trainer 5+ years ago did that and man was it edifying to have someone say "more protein less cheese and alcohol!" I'm sure he'll say the same thing.

Was there much of an emphasis on diet in the actual program? I'm planning to do a couple weeks of 2/wk private lessons to gain some confidence then go down to 1/wk and start classes. I've been utterly failing at my weight / fitness goals for so many years I'm just assuming I'll need to do personal training long term.

There's an Orange Theory north of town but even the CrossFit is a little annoyingly far-- 1 mile! haha! My yoga studio and gym are both less than .5 miles away

          I'm surprised there isn't.

I'm actually about to end my membership with them. I still love it, but I can join the YMCA with childcare and unlimited classes that will meet my needs well enough for $18/less a month than it costs to just do 4 classes a month at OrangeTheory. I'm sad, but it is what it is. The lack of childcare is going to be killer the next few months while DH is on IR and the PGY-3s are the only ones in the call pool.

I'll see you in attendinghood, dear Orange place.

MAPPLEBUM there's tons to be said for convenience! SoonerTexan I was just noticing that the Y has childcare at 6 months old! Can't wait to use it!

I worked out for the first time in 6 months. Just 30 min on the elliptical, but it felt good.

First session with trainer went very well. I think I did about 2,000 squats. Not really but it was more squats than I've ever done in one sitting. We started without the bar, he'd give me one thing to think about for optimal form, do 10. Then another idea, do 10. And so on until we added the bar, several sets later added more weight, more sets. Then he taught me a couple upper body exercises I'd never done before, moved onto a few sets of goblet squats, and finished with a fast paced workout going quickly from the row, goblet squats, and dumbbell snatches x4. My quads were already sore by the time I got home.

That was yesterday. This morning the first thought when I woke up was I "not sure if I can move." So maybe it's a good thing doing Tues/Thurs didn't work out for the first week!

What a session! There's no hiding one on one.

Great when you can enjoy the benefits of your fitness. Had a great run with DW around Barcelona when kids in bed one morning. It was brilliant because it was exciting, shared and my legs could do it!!

Finally caved and bought a natural rubber (100%) mat. I grow tired of slipping and/or offgassing from the synthetic ones, so I caved and dropped the cash.

Still lifting 3x week, and attending yoga 2x week -- for anyone who isn't sure, I would highly recommend taking a beginner class and being patient with your body. There are things flexibility/range of motion wise that no amount of standard stretching has ever allowed me to do, but yoga does. I can't believe it.

ballibeg any swims planned? I was so impressed by the beach in Barcelona compared to Brooklyn.

Need the sea to warm up a bit more before I don the wetsuit. I'm in the pool reasonably often though.

                            Barcelona beach was fab!

Probably a new step record. And I think it undercounted, because I took the kids on a walk in the stroller in the morning, and I know it doesn't count that accurately. We also did the playground in the afternoon, and an evening family walk.
