(Last time I was riding high mileage, over 10 years ago, I was continually plagued by saddle sores.)
I would think a second hand saddle would be as problematic as a new one because it hasn't conformed to your anatomy. If you are plagued by saddle sores, then it isn't a good fit.

Just got back from 10 miles with the wider seat and gel shorts.

It is amazing the difference some extra cushion makes.

• That could sure be part of it! But to be fair I was riding several hours at a time, several hundred miles a week at my peak, and the saddle sores were mostly a problem right at the end of my "career". And a certain helpful med student kept lancing them for me, which made riding hurt even more afterward. I am thinking it is more a combination of the saddle and the chamois that is going to be my sweet spot. The one pair of shorts I have now seems to have a seam right where I sit, causing a pressure point? I dunno. Going to review my training journal and see if I made any relevant notes about my butt comfort.

• OH, and as for running! One week down, 11 to go in my training program. I had a hard time keeping my easy runs easy this week, but I am also at 4000 ft altitude this weekend which I think makes my heart rate higher.

• I was in support mode this weekend as DW ran the local half. Hot day and many collapses due to heat. Why do folk set off in thermal long sleeves, t shirt and jacket in 25c?

• I'm pretty happy that after riding nearly 2 hours this weekend, my knees are barely achy. This bike is a better fit!

• Splinted my left leg overnight, and it feels better. Maybe this is the new normal until everything totally heals?

The compression socks and splinting help tremendously, as does no longer being in a living space with two flights of stairs.

In an effort to track my nutrition more efficiently, I downloaded my fitness pal - I'm on track to lose the final 10-20lbs, and potentially add 5lbs muscle by the end of the year.

• The gym is closed today, so I got the kids and some music and did half an hour of cardio (burpees, sit ups, push ups, etc). They quit on me, but they stayed to keep me company.

I'm getting annoyed because I'm not seeing the scale budge. I have been doing cardio for two full weeks and nothing is happening. I can't cut back my calories bc I'm BFing. I want to fit into my clothes again and I'm not seeing any movement. I didn't expect to lose 10 lbs or anything but nothing??? In the past, I could have lost several lbs by now.

I'm screwed with what to wear on Friday to a black tie graduation event for DH.

I feel you TulipsAndSunscreen I gained during my first two weeks of calorie tracking. I swear, that 3rd baby is a tipping point. 😔

• Yeah...I had to very actively work to lose anything vs it coming off on its own with the first two kids

I haven't had any kids and I've been unsuccessfully losing weight for the last 3 years

The owner of my gym asked this morning if I'm losing weight. She's the one who signed me up. It's hard to believe a fitness professional would just "say that" but no, I haven't. I'm exactly where I was after gaining 5 pounds from those months of not weighing. I might have lost .5 inch at both my waist and hips (I've been measuring each week for the last 6 weeks) but I'll wait a few weeks to see if it's real. In the meantime, I'm still trying to cut grains and sugars with an eye on going back into ketosis. 60 min cardio +/- 5x a week, aiming for more time in peak HR. Hoping to go back to yoga after this week and start lifting again. Aiming for 1500 calories, but like yesterday, when I did 30 min treadmill, 30 min row, and about 15 miles on the bike. I came in around 1800 calories.

With all the exercise, you may actually be not getting enough intake to build new muscle and cut fat.
I just figured out that was the reason for my latest stall -- I'm now eating 500 ( &#128561 extra calories a day. Who knew?

• My 20-week half marathon training plan started yesterday. It was a day off running so I did yoga. Today was 3mi and I did a treadmill run in 29:45.

• ugh I wish. I've tried more calories I just gain weight. My newest joke is I gain weight with more calories, less calories, more exercise, less exercise...it's kind of true but I'm doing OK not letting it affect me. I'm also working on consistency. Though, last week was the first time in months I've gone into a "fuck all" mode. I'd lost 1.5 pounds, knew it probably wouldn't stick, but then when I was right back to same weight the next day I got really upset and ate all the things
