• I need to get the Fitbit out again. I just hate how mine has no watch component.

    • Which one do you have, T&S? I have to admit I love the watch feature on my new-to-me Charge HR.

      Abnormal how ballibeg?!

My interval workout last night went well, and so did my "easy" run today -- I really struggle with the easy part of things lately though, I averaged over 150 bpm. Tomorrow is a good day for a rest day on the ol' training plan, since we'll be on the road! I will try to get a short walk in the evening but that may be it for the day.

        • Ah, boo. My Zip at least had a screen, and the time was one of the things it could display, but it was really awkward to pull it out of a pocket and tap-tap-tap-tap at it until it got to the right screen. >.< I ended up using my phone to check the time except for rare occasions, but was pretty much on the brink of just getting a dang watch.

Oh I used to love that thing. The sock? It was called something like that.

Foot problems suck. I'm sorry. Hope it gets better soon!

My favorite shop was having a blowout sale (the owner was out of town for the holiday weekend). Listed at $900, so entry level frame with middle level components. Got it for $700, but added a flat kit and two bottle cages. It is a Scott Contessa, and is last year's model.

I'm just waiting for a sporting goods shop to open this morning so I can get some padded shorts. My sit bones hurt after riding a men's saddle for 10 miles yesterday.

The shop is amazing. When I was test riding yesterday, I asked about raising the head because of a should injury and shitty wrists. They made a few mods and I took it out again. They were trying to close the sale minutes before close, but I don't know enough to even know what questions to ask. So, I left and grabbed a friend who is more knowledgeable and we returned 30 minutes after close. They were awesome, they cheered when I tried to open the door. My friend took it out for a quick ride then walked through the tech stuff with the guys. I asked about saddles and the bike guys showed some options. But when I mentioned that I preferred the saddle on a different bike I test rode, they swapped them out on the spot.

Honestly, I have no idea. I just wanted something lighter than my 33 pound cruiser/hybrid. I think the derailers are mid level Shimano. Once I get the saddle figured out it will be a comfortable ride. But there is no way I want to drop $200 on a Brooks that will take 200 plus miles to break in.

My knees are a bit sore today, but I also went for a walk in some new hiking boots that I need to break in. Being on pavement with the stiff sole wasn't great.

                            • I got my Fizik Vitesse secondhand so it was already broken in. Still, the first few rides this year have taken about a week each to recover fully from that bruised sit bone feeling! Recovery time seems to be getting shorter so I am hopeful that by acclimating slowly I can get really comfy on the bike again. (Last time I was riding high mileage, over 10 years ago, I was continually plagued by saddle sores.)

                              • I picked up some gel padded shorts today. Apparently the only pair of shorts in my size in the entire city. Sometimes small town living isn't all that awesome. Hopefully that helps with the saddle soreness.
