It may be breed-dependent, but both our breeder and trainer told us not to run with her until she was 2 years old.

spotty_dog ladymoreta thanks for the detail! Given hubby's out of shape ness, he'll be a good gauge for not overdoing it. Thinking like the couch to 5k style run/walk sequence. But I will keep in mind and not exceed 10 minutes at a time even once we've built up as well! I appreciate your input! I suppose I should ask my vet input to get specifics to her. She's lab/cattle dog but has remained hovering around 30 lbs with lanky legs for 2 months now.

That sounds like a safe amount of time, but I'm glad you'll check with your vet. It probably is very breed-specific.
Thank you. DH went to CVS this morning and got an ankle brace for me, and I've kept it iced for a lot of the day. It's feeling a little better. To add insult to injury... I'm supposed to get a tattoo on that ankle on Tuesday. I really hope the swelling has gone down by then!!Laurie

I haven't been posting in here regularly, but I figured I'd put in an update.
Since injuring my foot, I changed my routine and now lift 3-4 times a week, and go to yoga class 2 times a week.
While I am still on a weight plateau, my clothes are fitting better and I'm starting to see definition in my upper body (which I've never had before!)
Once I get my fatigue/weakness issue figured out, I plan on returning to running as early as November, but it will probably be something I only do once or twice a week. I like lifting weights more than I thought I would -- it makes me feel really strong!Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2
