Take heart, after you're feeling better you'll probably be able to do more with your front teeth than you think.

I'm sure he'd love me telling you this , but my father lost all of his molars some years ago to gum disease and did not have enough bone to be eligible for implants. He looks normal speaking but is missing something like ten teeth in the back. After an initial period of adjustment, he can eat all normal foods, including steak, eats out at restaurants no problem, etc., using just his front teeth. (Not that you'd be eating steak anyway!) My mother continues to be surprised, especially about the steak, but that's adaptation for you, I guess.

    Speedy healing to you--that's rough!

      Ugh that sounds awful.

Maybe steel cut oats? I like to make them on the stove or bake them with milk, bananas, or pumpkin. They seem more substantial than regular oatmeal.

There is an Irish leek soup you can make with them too

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! My list is much longer and I'm coming up with a game plan for the first couple days. I am vegetarian.

A favorite in our house is pumpkin yogurt. I mix whole plain yogurt with a can or pumpkin and add either cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. The kids can't get enough of it. It tastes so much like pumpkin pie, I wonder if I could add an egg and bake it...hmmm...

I do this too! Always with Greek though. I always have to use the Williams Sonoma cinnamon - it's amazing. And sometimes I mix in a spoonful or so of TJs pumpkin butter... So good! (I also sprinkle with pumpkin seeds - which have no place in this discussion, but go nicely with the pumpkin yogurt...).

I'm loving the potato kale soup my mom makes. Saute up some garlic and onion, add kale and potatoes and broth (we use chicken) and cook it until the kale and potatoes are done. Then puree. We add turkey sausage meatballs to it. But it's good without them. The last time we added carrot top greens with the kale and it was even better!!

Thank for the suggestions! The soups sound yummy. I've never had pumpkin yogurt either.

Has the surgery today. My friend is a god send. Doing ok. Dozing off and on again with ice packs to my face.

Thanks for the healing vibes. Yesterday was pretty miserable but I seem to have turned the corner today. I'm still fairly stiff and swollen. Tomorrow I can start having warm foods. So far it's been apple sauce, yogurt with bananas and smoothies, smoothies, smoothies. I've been adding soaked oats to the smoothies which really helps with staying power. Today for lunch I had banana, yogurt, peanut butter, cocoa powder, milk and agave. It was quite good!

Have you searched on Pinterest? Now that you mention oats, I remember seeing a wide variety of recipes where you mix oats and other stuff together the night before and by morning it's ready to go. Glad you're starting to feel better. Is your face swollen too?
