There is one good thing, we can beat the crap out of Oregon every year. Ever since our loss that was fixed, i refuse to acknowledge them as a state.

I know the teams are called the Huskies, and I know from growing up in Seattle with a sports-watching dad that the Huskies football team used to go to the Rose Bowl a lot when I was growing up...but I couldn't tell you what conference they're in, and I really don't see how it (whatever it is) could affect the value of my EE degree. Enlighten me?Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

Poky - The dawgs (Huskies) are in the Pac-10. As are their Apple Cup adversaries, the WSU Cougs. (Fellow former Washingtonian, here.)
Really, it is all about money. Which is why no matter how many rumors I hear about Notre Dame joining a conference, I'm pretty sure hell will freeze over before ND gives up their ridiculously lucrative national TV contract in favor of sharing the dough and spotlight in a conference.

I certainly hope the state of the athletics program doesn't diminish the value of a degree, as mine is about to lose bowl eligibility for the next two years and 20 football scholarships. Idiots.
I was hoping the Pac-10 would grab Colorado and Utah. I could do without Texas.Julia - legislative process lover and general government nerd, married to a PICU & Medical Ethics attending, raising a toddler son and expecting a baby daughter Oct '16.

I hope it doesn't boil down to the Pac-16, Big 10 (11?), SEC and ACC. It will make it more difficult for the mid-majors to generate television revenue and to get attention for bowl games. I really hope the outcome of all this shifting is NOT 4 super conferences, but the death of the BCS system. Heidi, I hate the BCS just as much as you do - my team went 10-2 in 2006 and was gifted the Texas Bowl. Do I think we deserved a BCS game? No, but I think we deserved something a little bit better (Cotton, Gator, etc.) - bowl games should not be based on conference tie-ins. So, I would like to see the BCS fade away and a national championship arise out of all this.Event coordinator, wife and therapist to a peds attending
