  • Today DH got called in AGAIN since he is on back up call. Grrrr. This should be it though since I'm pretty sure it's his last day on backup.

Today my youngest DD and I had the entire house to ourselves and enjoyed it by taking a nap together, playing some wii and now we'll make sundaes together. I really like when I get some one on one time with my girls.

Today I blew off a bunch of things I hoped to accomplish on my to do list, but I'm not feeling guilty at all. There's always tomorrow.

      • Today i've been mediating between the two little ones since the moment they woke up - which makes me sad, because they used to NEVER fight.

Today I have another orthodontist appointment. I'm on my 4th year of orthodontics (second round). 3 years of Invisalign and now i'm a year into braces. Seriously. What the hell - why isn't this treatment over with yet.

Today it's sunny, and my mood is better.

        • today for the fourth day in a row I was woken up at 3:30am. This time by the phone due to some idiot dialing our number from the front door callbox.

today its raining and I just want to go to bed but its a full work day.

Today I got to work and can't find my drivers licence. I had to show it last night, so I am hoping its in the pocket of the jeans I was wearing last night.

today I would like to be able to write something happy. This is my goal for today.

Today DH has to cover half a PICU shift for the 2nd-years' retreat. Unless he gets called in on jeopardy next week, this is his last shift of residency.
Today smells like smoke, due to the 2nd-largest wildfire in state history burning north of here.

                • Today DD woke up an hour too early.

Today I cleaned my living room and kitchen, then pre-ordered pizza for a playdate today. I went to the grocery store before she was supposed to come. Then she cancelled 5 minutes before because her daughter was having a growth spurt.

Today I am giving up swaddling DD. She rolled over in her sleep last night, and fortunately woke up crying, but it scared me. I should have stopped a long time ago.

Today I'm still sore and tired but have too much to do to catch up from this weekend to rest.

I have to ask, because this confuses me. What does this mean, exactly? As a non-parent, I was under the impression that growth spurts were not 5-minute-notice types of things, and I'm unaware of why they would preclude a playdate, too...enlighten me?

Some kids have really, REALLY painful growth spurts. No, they're not 5 minute things, but can sometimes come on suddenly for some kids. Our youngest has the worst growth spurts where his legs are occasionally so sore that he can barely walk.

As a kid, I was like that too. Achy and sore with stabby type pains in the joints (growth plates). It sucked. And my folks were clueless about it thinking I was just a wuss.

                          • Eh, if it'd been something that serious, I guess I'd be more understanding. Her daughter is 3 months old. She was almost done nursing, and suddenly started crying. So the mom gave her a bottle of pumped milk, and she was okay. But I don't know, I guess she doesn't want to bring a cranky baby. We've both breastfed in front of each other before, so it's not that. I think she's just kind of flaky, and I'm in no mood to deal with flaky today.
