  • Woot! Today we transferred our drivers' licenses to the new state, registered my car to the new state, bought a new bed for DD1, and got DH's hair cut. We've been productive.

My car's tags have been expired for two years and DH never changed the license from when he was in med school. Yup, two cross-country relocations and 4 YEARS of residency/fellowship passed without DH getting the licensing changed. I am now on the title of both vehicles and can take care of this shit in the future.

    • That's too cute, MrsK!

DD, I finally got my license yesterday, too! I registered my car a couple weeks ago, but I still haven't got the new plates on...

      • Today, I was thinking that it's been a long time since either the K Bros or I have been sick. So K1 woke up with a cold. Today, we are missing Parents As Teachers for the third week in a row (Yom Kippur last week and my eye exam the week before), I rescheduled their vaccinations, and I'm planning a day of crafts, quiet games, and books at home. We'll make Halloween crafts after Sesame street. The boys are mostly excited that I'm letting them watch TV and drink "juice" (pedilite) in the living room.

So, this is an initial draft of the invite:

3 monkeys and [K1] were jumping on the bed,
[K2] fell off and bumped his head,
Mommy called Dr. Dad and Daddy said,
          “LET’S CELEBRATE [K1's] 3RD BIRTHDAY INSTEAD!”

2 monkeys and [K1] will frantically eat banana bread,
[K2] will enjoy his half-birthday -- as long as he’s fed,
          “Meet us on SUNDAY, DECEMBER THE 2ND;
3PM would be perfect!” Mom and Dad said.

1 monkey and [K1] ran around until Mommy pled,
“Slow down, [K] brothers, before there’s bloodshed!
          [K1], it’s a tricycle, not a moped!”
Please join us at [ADDRESS] as mommy turns red.

[K1] and [K2] will soon rush ahead,
It’s amazing how three years have quickly fled,
Our family’s happiness couldn’t be more widespread,
Please call us at [PHONE NUMBER] to RSVP now that our poem is read.
Perfection! Don't change a thing! You know I had to PAY someone $20 off etsy to make a invite for us this year. Should have called you instead!

I would laugh but it took me 1 year to change my DL and car tags after we moved here. I figured I couldn't hold off for four years! lol

Was it pricey? Everyone talks about how expensive it is here, but come to find out when you drive really old cars it's not so bad! haha

            • Today, I am enjoying a perk of being an adult: homemade apple pie for breakfast (and possibly lunch).

              • Maybe this shows my age, but Today I'm remembering the days when part time jobs would pay sick time when you were sick rather than demanding a letter from your doctor when you call in sick, not paying you, and then they act like I'm lucky they didn't fired me all for being sick and not able to work. Wonder if my boss has to show a Fing doctors note when she needs a sick day? Doubt it.

Nowhere near as expensive as it would have been a few years ago. The state went from basing your vehicle tab renewal fees off of the vehicle's value to a flat fee. We had to add a couple things to the title so it cost us a little more than usual. I think we paid around $100.

                  • Speaking of car talk, today I paid my DMV renewal fees. Upside is that the older my car gets, the cheaper the fees are but I also need to send in a smog check verification. Saving that for another day. Kris, that pie sounds delish!

I, on the other hand, telecommuted today to avoid the interstate closures.

                        • Today, DH is on-call again. The baby just started screaming and I am letting my girls play a game instead of go to bed on time.

Today my neighbors brought us dinner. A total, yet wonderful surprise. I love them.

Today, I wished I was more productive.

                              • Happy Birthday!

Today I am so sleepy. Sirens going off during the middle of the night for a half hour woke me up and kept me awake. It didn't help either that I had a medium coffee in the morning yesterday that kept me up until late into the night because I don't normally drink coffee.
