  • Haha R and I are total opposites. I hate it when the heat is cranked, and he loves it. I LOVE hot weather, but something about artificial heat makes me feel icky.

Speaking of thermostats, my office has been 78 degrees the last two days. Ughhhhhh torture.
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

    • OMG! I would have FROZEN! I begrudgingly turned our thermostats down to 68 today from 70.

      • The thermostat is programmed to 66 during most of the day, 61 at night. Usually 66 is the point where I start to feel cold if I sit still at all, and in the early afternoon I start grumbling about CERTAIN PEOPLE who are stingy with the heat (then I drink some tea and sit by the gas fireplace for a bit and that gets me through until the thermostat kicks back up to 67 for a few hours in the evening). But now that the repair guy has come and gone, 66 feels balmy, LOL!

Today I am (mostly) managing to leave B- alone while he crams for next weeks finals (and I'm only a little anxious, heh).
Today is another 'one day at a time' (not to be confused with AA's 'one day at a time' bug similar)... And I'm making it

            • Today I found this awesome site and finally feel like I may be able to make it to the other side of residency. DH came home post call earlier than usual, picked up DS from daycare for me, came home and slept for only an hour, and had a fairly decent conversation with me about a recent mediation that I did in court. It made my day that he actually listened to me. Now I am sad as he sleeps on the couch with a stomach ache when I really wish he were sleeping with me. I will not wake the sleeping bear...

              • Today I took both kids on a massive grocery shopping trip 45 minutes before DS's naptime. (It's the shopping trip for our once-a-month cooking meals.) They only have one cart that seats two kids, and it's ridiculously long because the seat part is a car. One of the seat belts is broken, so when I use it, DS stands up the whole time. Didn't matter, because it's Saturday, so of course it was already being used. Two hours of shopping with him running free and flinging himself onto the floor the whole time... DD was surprisingly cheerful, though, and the only real meltdown was when DS threw himself under the cart as I was pushing it and pinched his finger. (He's fine.) Overall, he was good *for a 2.5 year old at naptime*, but I'm sure everyone there thought I was the worst mother ever. Ah well, after yesterday, all I could think when he was being a toddler is how thankful I am to have him there with me and safe. Perspective.

                • Today, I had a makeover at the Dior counter. DH set it up as we were finishing up our Christmas shopping last week (not realizing how expensive their stuff is). When they made me over, my skin looked great. It's been super dry and not itself since we moved here...over a year ago. So, I decided to splurge and buy a few products. I had what MIGHT be considered a mild to moderate anxiety attack the entire way home. DH thought I looked great, told me to keep it, I told him what it cost, he groaned, but again told me to keep what I bought. I pretty much had myself convinced that I was going to be okay with what I spent and that I could avoid a future derm trip if I can get this dryness knocked out. Just washed my face, and it is BRIGHT red. Problem solved. Everything but the lipstick I bought is going back. i'll be taking myself to Ulta tomorrow.

                  • Ugh - that sucks Deb. But at least you have a guilt free reason for returning the stuff.

Today - I finally convinced my children to watch TV (yes, bad mommy here) so that I could work on C's bedroom. I managed to get the drywall dust (from sanding) taken care of, the floor wiped down from said dust, paint and primer purchased, and about half of the room primed. Then it was time for dinner and I petered out.

                            • Today we're trying to figure out why reimbursements are down (and right when our own health insurance has gone up drastically). Boo.

Yesterday we took the kids to the Nutcracker. It was a whimsical, non-traditional interpretation that was really well done and I enjoyed it a lot. We're talking about enrolling DD with the group that put it on, but A) it's about 30-40 minutes each way and I am extremely averse to even getting in the car these days; and B) looking at the playbill I was realizing that being a dance mom is more time intensive than being a co-op preschool mom or a PTA mom. My hat is off to you, v-girl, I can't imagine all the work and love that went into getting this one production off the ground!
