    • Today my boss responded to my e-mail, which also included a bunch of other things I needed to update him on (subcontracts, grant transfer plans, etc.). His first response was terse:

Nice to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing you here in July.
Then I guess he actually read the whole e-mail:

Regarding the 6 week leave, please check with workforce management to confirm your eligibility during the first year of employment.
So, at least he knows, even though I guess I thought he might at least say congratulations? The state requires them to give me leave even though I don't qualify for FMLA, and university policy doesn't mention eligibility for paid leave for faculty like it does FMLA, so we'll see. Even if it's unpaid, they can't fire me.

      • Today I went shopping for myself, almost everything I bought is blue, a shade of blue or has blue in it - I need an intervention!

And WHY is it so hard to find a casual pair of sandals, something neutral that isn't covered in gaudy stones or accents or who knows what?!?!

        • Today we had a cleaning service come to the house (thank you ILs for paying)! OMG - the house looks amazing AND they empty all the trash AND change the sheets. Sigh.

Having just spent the last 4 hours cleaning, this sounds dreamy...

              • We hired house cleaners for the house we were renting, and that's the best the house has looked in a year! Housekeeping has moved far up my wish list!

Although the call schedule for next year is horrible, at least we are moving forward.

                    • DH was home for a whole weekend - first time since mid-May. Heaven. We had great meals and fun play times, went to church and the pool. Did very little on the to-do list but whatever...we were celebrating the end of intern year!!

                      • DH got called in to work tonight. We had a grad party for our babysitter, whose dad is also an ER doc. We left early so DH could rest (because it's kind of tough to get up at 6am thinking you're having a regular day and work until 10 am the next day), and everyone kept telling me to just stay with the kids. I know they were all trying to be nice, but I don't want to stay at a party by myself with three kids. I do that often enough. I'm just so over it right now.

                          • Today, I get a little break. The interns have now been oriented and they are with their programs AND the MS3s don't begin their clerkship until next Monday. So, I shall not have any activities for the next three days. Fingers crossed, that I will have some uninterrupted time to do admin work...once I get off IMSN.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

This is where we need a "like" button.

And on this one...mixed feelings. Nice to get started boo on the fact that intern year sucks no matter what.
