  • Today, I received the tracking number for my passport from the visa expeditor. It should be here tomorrow. Which is a relief, since I leave on Sunday...

I am so freaking excited. I fly down on Sunday, work like crazy until Thursday night when we can begin tearing down the booth. I am thinking we should have it all done by noon-ish on Friday. And my flight back doesn't leave until Sunday night. So, we should have 2-2.5 days of sight seeing. I am FB friends with someone from the host family I stayed with who currently lives in Rio and she is going to play tour guide. So, very few expenses during the trip that won't be reimbursed, plus the hotel is covered the entire time I am there. I cannot wait!

        • Are you getting paid too? Or is the free trip your pay?

          • All expenses paid (I just submitted all of the stuff this week, so that check will really help once I get it) plus a $500 stipend. I am not planning on using my vacation time for work so I can save it for when I really need it, but it also means no lost income. I probably could have negotiated a bigger stipend, but I didn't really care since I AM GOING TO RIO with no out of pocket expense AND they threw in an extra night in the hotel so we could go sight seeing.

              • Today, I made my final student loan payment, 15 years after I graduated from law school. I'm both relieved and depressed.

                    • Today I finally got my butt to the dermatologist to have my moles checked (scheduled the appointment yesterday and was flabbergasted when they told me they could fit me in this morning). It's been entirely too long since I've had them checked. She said we'll be seeing a lot of each other, and that my moles are difficult because they're all different. She did take one off to biopsy, so hopefully it comes back normal. I've had two removed in the past that came back fine. I should get the path results next week.

Nice! It was REALLY hard to find an open appt for DH earlier this year for the same reason. Surgery rotation didn't help. Hope the results and your future visits are uneventful. That shit is scary.

                        • When I called I expected them to schedule me at least several weeks away. My mom just saw the same doctor and it took her weeks to get in. I don't know if they had cancellations or what, but I'm glad I didn't have to stress over it for too long!

                          • My skin is really fair, and I had a bunch of moles that changed while I was pregnant (including one that suddenly appeared under my nail, which totally freaked me out). It's a good thing you're going to the derm now. I waited until immediately after I gave birth to go, which meant I spent a handful of afternoons getting various biopsies with a newborn in tow. Hopefully you get good news from the derm soon!
