ACK!!! Total sarcasm. I mean, yes, there is a whole power play that attracts women to married doctors (they don't even have to be doctors of course or even married). Hell, even some of my friends flirt with DH (different topic). I can't and don't want to imagine how many patients, nurses, techs, even fellow residents flirt with him just like I don't want to imagine anyone flirting with him when he's at a bar. But the doctor's visit is an incredibly vulnerable and precarious situation for the patient, so to imagine them trying to hit on their physician while in a compromised position is to me comedic. I'm sorry I hit a sore subject. Off topic, but maybe it will lighten things up:

And yea, I LASIK is probably a fellowship but the implication is he could perform it on me (and why hasn't he)

LASIK is extra training. DH is glaucoma trained and does all cataract and glaucoma surgery. I always get a good laugh out of people's reactions when I tell them I go to Lens Crafters. There's a lot of confusion about what an OD does and what an MD does and I think that is pretty reasonable. I do think it is pretty goofy to assume that if you are an eye doc you would have magically healed your (or your spouses) vision. I think it's often just a knee-jerk blurted out " but you wear glasses!" At least it's just silly rather than offensive. The money-bags assumption always bugs me and holy crap I don't know how I would react to someone telling me he's bound for infidelity!

Maybe they assume you should have gotten free LASIK if your husband is an eye doc? But honestly I think that is giving the average person too much credit

I was telling him about this thread and I asked him if he got to see any pretty kitties during his OB/GYN rotation. He looked sorta off into the distance as if he was remembering something horrifying and said "Even the prettiest kitties look terrifying with pus oozing out."

I'm guessing that was a no.

Bleh!!!! DH did a plastics rotation in his TY year, which consisted mostly of helping with boob reductions/implants/etc. Since historically I've been more on the jealous spectrum in our relationship I think it was good for both of us that I just didn't let my mind "go there." If you can trust the dude you can trust him, no matter his field or specialty.
