I think we can all relate on one level or another. It *does* suck. Making friends can make all the difference, but I know how hard that is, too. From what others here have said, it can take up to a year to get to know new people and a new place well enough to feel comfortable. Give yourself that time. Yes, you made a decision with some major downsides, but it has upsides, too, right? Work on concentrating on those, if you can. Talk to your friends even though they're not right there; that's what phones and email are for.
You *will* get a chance, eventually, to concentrate on your career. You're still young; if my DH can *start* medical school at age 36, you'll be fine even if you have to put off your own advancement until after your husband's training is over.
Meanwhile, keep posting here; it's better than therapy.
