    Hi Everyone,

It seems most people here are in the training years - we're WAY past that, but it seems like only yesterday. Actually it's 20 years post residency now, and we have a 16 y.o. son and 12 y.o. daughter.

Are there many others here whose spouse has been out that long?

One thing I'd like to say, is that there seems to be an ongoing theme of "things have to get better after .....fill in the blank... med school, residency, fellowship, ETC. " We are still learning, even now, how to balance everything. People don't change their work habits or expectations easily. A workaholic in training is a workaholic later in their career, too. Learn how to communicate NOW - don't kid yourself that it will all be instantly better when...

I have much admiration for all the spouses here - it's sometimes a rough road, but many rewards also.

    Lynn

Haha, well, we're definitely on the other end of the training spectrum, but welcome!

We are many years out of training, but the basics remain the basics. Welcome, you will find quite a few of us here who are out of training.

Welcome. We are just a couple of years out of training. DH has an uncle who is MUCH closer to retirement than not, and his wife was absolutely my lifeline and best source of wisdom before I found this site. the perspective of those who have already gone through some of my experiences is part of what I love about this site (as well as trying to be there for those that are going through things I've already done).

and nice to meet you! There are plenty of attendings around, but they probably feel out numbered by the younglins (not in age but in experience and training), so I'm sure they will be glad to have another veteran around!
Afterall those of us early in the process are so dependant and reliant on the expert advice of those that are ahead of us on the training/career trail.

                      Welcome!

What type of medicine does your husband practice? What stage of training (or post training) did you guys get married? The perspective of attending SOs is always very helpful for those of us at the beginning of the process.

                      Glad to have you here!

Welcome! Although we are just getting our feet wet in training (MS1), I love the perspective that everyone on this site has to offer. There are many who are out of the training years and you'll fit right in.

Welcome! Yes, there are several of us who post from our rockers and often start with "Back in MY day ..." . Not many who have been out of training as long as you, but you're not alone.
