Hi Everyone,
It seems most people here are in the training years - we're WAY past that, but it seems like only yesterday. Actually it's 20 years post residency now, and we have a 16 y.o. son and 12 y.o. daughter.
Are there many others here whose spouse has been out that long?
One thing I'd like to say, is that there seems to be an ongoing theme of "things have to get better after .....fill in the blank... med school, residency, fellowship, ETC. " We are still learning, even now, how to balance everything. People don't change their work habits or expectations easily. A workaholic in training is a workaholic later in their career, too. Learn how to communicate NOW - don't kid yourself that it will all be instantly better when...
I have much admiration for all the spouses here - it's sometimes a rough road, but many rewards also.
