I just have to say again how good the live feeds are... they have Shannon Miller doing commentary with an Australian guy who I didn't recognize, and they're awesome.

The commentary overall on prime time is SO inane. And yeah, I loathe the Ryan Seacrest bits.

I was so impressed last night with how our vaulter handled coming in second. I really feel for the girls. They are so young to handle such intense pressure.

Can we talk about how Bob Costas must be dipped in liquid nitrogen between each Olympics? He doesn't age AND he's on all.the.time. Does the man even take a bathroom break?

I hope the American vaulter comes back in 4 years. I know the odds are against that happening though. I bet her vault looks even more amazing in person.

I think the odds are especially low considering she's a one event specialist. She'd have to keep at it plus they'd have to need her (i.e. there wouldn't be someone else who could get high vault scores). I'm really happy for her that they got the team gold - she was definitely integral to that effort.

Dh's younger sister did it at one point. I don't think she lasted long. I think it was pretty intense.

I did synchro for a while, only competed a few times and stuck with competitive swimming. They are working HARD, I promise you that. Probably a lot like ballet, where you have to look graceful, but you are working your tail off without looking like it.
