    Sigh, I'm not voting

    If the front runners do not change, I will not be voting in the fall. Trump scares me to death... I can't stand Hillary, though if it comes down to the two of them I may just have to vote for her which I NEVER EVER thought I would say... I just do not understand how Trump remains in the number 1 position.... He is so incredibly scary.... I cannot imagine him being in charge of the nuclear button or much of anything else... Sigh... I've never been so disillusioned in the choices or in the voting people...

        Trump is so...I don't even know. He is totally bewildering and it's embarrassing that Americans are buying what he's selling.

          He's a salesman. I'm also dismayed that we've become a nation that wholesale buy a sales pitch without any further thought. Reality tv should have tipped me off.

          People are REALLY mad. They want a big huge monster change to the system and I think they think voting Trump or Sanders will bring it. It won't. And yeah, Trump scares me too, although I comfort myself by telling myself that he doesn't mean a word he says, he's just playing the crowds.

          The crowds that agree with him scare me.

            I cannot find very many people who truly support him though...and this is Texas! Who and where are these nuts?

            He's totally unelectable though. If he somehow gets the nomination I think it's the death knell for the Republican Party...and if that means it's the beginning of a new party system I'm okay with that

              Yeah, I keep waiting for it to break in two. I'm not sure what would happen, but it seems like they have at least two parties in there. Maybe three. It should make for an interesting convention, and it will be right here in town for me to watch! Lol

              I read an interesting article today that said we are so divided because the Republican Party hasn't reconciled their rhetoric to a changed demographic in the US and the Democratic Party has, but hasn't offered a future vision that anyone wants to get behind. So basically, we have no leaders. Sounds about right.

                We were just talking about this yesterday over dinner. I don't see a president anywhere among those running. I can't recall ever thinking this before. Most years I may not feel particularly compelled by one candidate or another, but I can at least look at someone and say "Yeah I could see that person running the country." I don't see that at all here. At least not among the 2-3 front runners from each side. This is a weird cycle.

                  My aunt and uncle are die hard supporters (and winter Texans). They actually looked at ME with sympathy because I told them I wholeheartedly disagreed with everything they said when they were trying to sell his BS to me. He's so scary and I am in complete disbelief that he's getting as far as he is. I truly thought no one would take him seriously after the novelty wore off.

                    If this were a StuCo election:

                    Hillary and Jeb are the so so kids hoping to get elected because their popular older siblings were before them.

                    Ted Cruz is the slimy kid that pretends to be all moral and straight and narrow but really will do anything to get ahead.

                    Bernie Sanders is the kid who promises he will give everyone As and no school on Fridays if he wins

                    And Donald Trump is the kid everyone knows is batshit crazy, but he gets away with it because his parents are rich

                        I'm sure this isn't a surprise to anyone, but I'm voting dem regardless of who gets the nom. I'm team Hillary though, all the way.

                          I agree, I'm so unhappy with the choices. At this point, I'm hoping for a reasonable moderate to show up and run as a third party candidate. That's all I've got...

                            It is surprising to me that some people see no one "presidential" in the running. Of the Rs, I'm not sure who seems presidential--certainly not Trump or Carson. Maybe Rubio in another decade? He just seems so young and inexperienced right now.

                            Hillary strikes me as seeming very presidential. Bernie is less polished and has the irascible grandpa thing going on, but I am digging him (I know he isnt everyone's cup of tea).

                            I like some of what O'Malley says. I hope we see more from him in the coming years. But like Rubio, he seems a bit too inexperienced for my liking just yet.

                              I will be voting. It's a big deal to me, but I'm also unsatisfied with candidate options.
                              Not voting is a luxury I can't afford.
