I get what you're saying, but all non-ethnic/social-majority groups are scared right now, and you can come up with any number of reasons why theirs won't be the start of the inequality, but the fact is that we all expect it to begin somewhere and spread. You can't tell one group not to worry yet.
That's fair enough, who knows what might happen? I find it hard to believe that Jews will be targeted in present-day America, however it certainly is conceivable that I, being just some guy on the Internet, will be proven wrong.

Isnt Trumps son in law Jewish and Ivanka a Jewish convert?

Yeah, but that hasn't dissuaded the KKK from planning a victory rally here in a couple weeks.

They already have been. Swastikas are popping up all over the place and as said above, the KKK is starting out be very vocal. We've always been targeted. We have had security guards outside or jewish community centers for years and that didn't stop the shooting at mine two and a half years ago. And no it wasn't just a disgruntled person. it was a man looking to kill Jews. Just yesterday when I went to the center we walked up and my two year old excitedly pointed out the security vehicle. I could keep going but I'll stop there.

Doesn't matter. That pretty much amounts to "some of my best friends are black". Also, His son in law is reputed to be a turn coat and is on bad terms with the Jewish community. And, considering Bannon.....

There have been many explicitly anti-Jewish statements made throughout this campaign and among Trump's inner circle.

Also, since the time that the Jews were led out of the land of Egypt, we have identified with the stranger, the orphan, the widow, the refugee. We have a moral imperative to be concerned for the disenfranchised and persecuted. We are commanded to do so and we have a genetic memory for having been refugees and scapegoats. I'm uncomfortable with the targeting of any group.

Sure, as I said, right wing organizations are currently on the rise in the western hemisphere, that much is certain. I'm just not convinced they will be condoned by Trump or mainstream American society, that's all. There will always be crazies and these crazies will be claiming Trump's election win as their own, just as the British ones have claimed Brexit as their victory. It'll be up to the public to decide if they were right or wrong.

                    The Election

I am just sickened by everything he stands for and that his run and win has emboldened racists and bigots throughout the country and has validated their feelings. I'm sad. I'm angry. I cannot move on.

Every time I see someone post a "get over it" regarding the election, I think that it's an easy thing to say when you aren't afraid for your safety. It's an easy thing to say when you hold privilege and power.

I only had my one vote. I canvassed. I did what I could. Yet, a hateful, sexually assaulting, narcissistic, bigoted asshole won. And, Im supposed to get over it?

I wasn't happy when GWB won, but it certainly was something I could get over. I could respect him as a person who truly wanted what was best even though I vehemently disagreed with his policies.

I have no respect for the Pres elect, and as Wendy says, Cheetoh-in-Chief.

And, I'm white. At least my kids aren't worrying about being deported.

Yes, but we are discussing the U.S. election here. What I am saying is that I don't think Trump will choose to make Jews his scapegoat.

Trump has condoned it. He refused to renounce the KKK and has pandered to hate groups. The fact that mainstream America elected him, whether because of or in spite of the KKK endorsement demonstrates that society has condoned it.

It's already happened. His closing speech at the end of the campaign was a big loud dog whistle specifically naming Jewish people. The anti-defamation league condemned it as hate speech.

I guess we'll see how things pan out then. I still doubt that American voters are going to support active targeting of Jews, however I certainly respect your opinion. Hey, it's not every day that I come out on the (arguably) pro-American side of a political argument here. .

What's getting to me is all the liberal finger pointing. First it was not electing Bernie in the primaries (now they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he would've beat Trump), the DNC 'rigging' the election, the "secret" Trump supporters, and most recently shitty news sources: people are only reading what they want to hear. Um, no. Dems lost because they didn't fucking vote, or they voted third party. Republican turnout has been consistent the last three elections, it's the democrats who need to get their shit together.

I'm unable to get over it too, but my anger is being directed towards complacent Dems and a less severe bitterness towards the #NeverTrump camp who said with their vote that they'd rather him win than vote for Hillary.
