^ Yeah that. I could use my corporate AMEX, but it would be a PITA to go through the reimbursement expense report process, etc.

Target card theft

Sucks that I started buying groceries at Target a month ago. We too use the credit card for 98% of purchases. However, if I get the numbers changed it will be the third time I've done that ina year.
Wondering what's going to evolve next for identity protection as this kind of thing becomes more and more common. It just reminds me of being a kid listening to my Southern Baptist mother predicting people will start having computer chip implants and how it could be the sign of the beast. (Apparently people said the same thing when they started instituting Social Security numbers?)

Very good thing to know!!!

I ended up cancelling my debit card and requesting a new one. Still no fraudulent activity, but I'd rather be without a card for 4-5 days than constantly worry that some POS can drain my account at any time.
I probably should switch to using credit all the time, for both the extra protections and the cashback rewards. The problem is that I tend to overspend a bit when doing that, knowing I don't have to pay the bill for at least a few more weeks.

We use CC for just about everything. I usually keep tabs on it enough to know when to reign back the spending (making multiple payments throughout the month, it's a little obsessive but helps keep things balanced). What's started bothering me though is that we're always paying for the month before, which means no matter how much I pay throughout the month when he gets his monthly paycheck most of it goes to bills and CC. I almost had us switch over to debit cards last month but when it came down to it wasn't willing to ween off of the Citi Thank You points.
So are most people cancelling their cards and getting new numbers?

We'll be canceling our Amex in a few days after we're sure everything we have used it for has cleared and watching it like a hawk in the mean time. I had to use it at Costco today but otherwise we've stopped using it until we request a new one. I'm not doing anything about my Target card but wondering if I should - I mean it would make sense that they could use those too, mine is only good at the store, I wonder if they'll just issue all new ones - won't that cost a fortune!!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Hmmmm, I saw a security expert say it's unnecessary to cancel your cards but to keep an eye on things. I only use my Target debit card at target. It would be a huge pita to not cancel and then have to deal with issues. Oh the joys of technologyTara

If it was a debit, I might consider canceling, but not for credit. I think of how many times my number really isn't that safe via X online site, etc. anyway. i think this is getting press because it is Target and the holiday season.
I did check my credit report and will again in a few monthsMarried to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
