I am 99% sure this is linked to the Target breach because a) DH's card was not affected and b) I was the one who shopped at Target >3 times during that time period so..yeah. GRRR
Oh boy, I'm sorry! when did they make the charges. I was so scared about that happening.

I heard its better to use a debit card as Credit when I pay so the pin can't be stollen. Is the PIN number also saved in the strip? Any thoughts ST?

The best buy charges happened on Sunday, and I just happened to look at our checking account for some reason at lunch on Sunday - I'm glad I saw it right away! I knew it was fishy because Dh would have DEFINITELY said something to me if it was something over $100.

I just received a new (totally unsolicited) debit card in the mail from USAA. They said my card had been compromised by the Target data theft. Interestingly, I haven't used my card there in years....my husband did this Christmas and we changed his immediately afterwards. I'm guessing the bank is being cautious since my card is in their larger database?? Or because it is somehow compromised because it is linked to the same accounts as my husband's card?

I shopped at Target, but I wasn't that worried. But USAA sent me a new card unprompted too. My Amex was hacked last year and USAA was awesome about it.

It was my USAA debit card that was used at Target and replaced.

Ohh ok. I only used the Amex there. I called them for an unrelated reason after it happened and mentioned I used it. They seemed to think I was ok so just going to watch for now.

Have you heard of anyone having fraudulent charges on their RedCard? I used it there, but so far nothing has shown up. It's linked to my checking account, so that worries me.

Me too. I haven't canceled it because I check that acct almost daily.

I got an email about free credit monitoring today. I'm sort of afraid to click any links on it.....

The free credit monitoring is legit. Just be sure to cancel it in a year, unless you want to be charged to continue the monitoring. I just followed the link in MrsK's message, though; I didn't get an email.

So now Home Depot too? This is getting old! I kind of wonder if this was reason for the extra scrutiny on our card last weekend?
