  • OK..our gossip column was full of Tom Cruise bits this morning. The most disturbing? He told GQ he was planning to *eat* the placenta. :!

    Bleh.

I think Tom Cruise is the new Michael Jackson.

      Placenta???? Gross!
I hope she did get the birth they were planning which was to have the medical staff provide a calm and welcoming environment for the baby rather than bright lights, shouting, or even loud talking. Katie was always to be permitted to vocalize as she desired.

Apparently he was "just joking" about eating the placenta, but it's not unheard of -- I guess a big-name chef cooked and served placenta for a sensationalist TV spot once?

      • Actually, I did read an article that interviewed Kelly Preston and Ann Archer who both said that it's really not totally silent. (Kelly Preston said something to the effect of "come on you ARE in labor...")

so for that, a calm environment sounds pretty nice.

Actually, I'd like a calm environment. Just for like 30 minutes.

          • Recently, a survey came out of the "Unsexiest Men". A local radio station held a poll before revealing the list. The first person I thought of a number 1 was Tom Cruise.

            Poor baby.

                    • I read that the place where they're staying in Africa is a fab resort that they've rented. Yup, the entire place.

This baby will not be brought into the world in any sort of poverty or illusion thereof. and actually, if you think about it, as much publicity as they're likely to get, it kind of makes sense to find a remote resort and rent the whole damned thing.

Of course, if I were having Brad Pitt's baby, I'd be practically running the streets. NY, DC, LA- you name it- I'd be doing the Tom Cruise on Oprah jumpfest.

                        • two sites I visit everyday are

                          http://gofugyourself.com/ and

                          http://www.trent.blogspot.com/

It cuts down on embarassing myself at the check out lines reading that smut. At least with these sites I can feed my addiction in private.

                          • Can I tell you that ALL of the moms at Kindermusik today were discussing this topic, and I embarrassed myself by betraying that I know WAAAAY too much about it? Literally, there was a moment where I was explaining all about the silent birth whys and wherefores and I realized that I had said too much......everyone was looking at me in a kind, but concerned way. Luckily, Nathan popped out of the room at that moment needing to go to the bathroom, and the conversation had moved on when we got back.

                            I blame you all!
