My guess is there is a confidentiality agreement before the first *time* (if we're assuming he actually does swing that way). "Oh you know how it is! I'm such a mega-star, so many people are out to get me! I can't have things being misinterpreted by reporters." Otherwise, why doesn't Mimi have her own talk show about him or something? I can see Nicole being quiet for the sake of the kids ... not to mention she probably wants to distance herself from the nut.

On the "defense" side of this. Can you imagine being in Katie's place? The man she grew up adoring -- probably staring at his poster on her wall - makes her think he's in love with her?? I mean, if Sting really came calling (WHEN he comes calling) I'll be doing the good 'ol tantric two step!.

      • My new conspiracy theory on this subject:

It's not really her baby she gave birth to - she was just the incubator for Tom's clone!

        Whaddya think?

        • This whole Tomkat pregnancy reminded me of Rosemary's baby from the start. Doesn't suri mean Rose is some language? I bet Tom had her drinking special "vitamin" drinks the whole time!

          • Law & Order SVU had an episode last night (on USA) where a rock star spouted off about how awful psychiatric drugs are, and a girl who stopped taking them ended up driving into a crowd of people and killing a 14 year old.

Where do you think those nutty writers came up with the idea??

If you are offended by South Park or are a Scientologist, you probably shouldn't watch this.

                • I took a cults class in high school and people are always amazed when I tell them what Scientology teaches. L. Ron Hubbard was discharged from the military with a section 8...even though he claims it was an honorable discharge...part of why he hates psychology. It is truly amazing the things they get away with while calling themselves a church.

I think they really do. Maybe they have to pay so much money before they hear that, that they are either too deep in to quit or brainwashed!

My favorite part of the episode was the "This is what Scientologists actually beleive" disclaimer on the bottom of the screen. Hilarious.

And, I loved that Tom Cruise just wouldn't "come out of the closet."

                        • I shy away from the "cult" label. Probably because there are so many whackos out there that call my faith a "cult".

EDIT: Well, what do you know! Scientologists call critics of their faith "wackos". What a fortuitous use of verbage I used above!

You know, as very, umm, "different" as the Scientology teachings are from my own I don't have a particular problem with them per se. After all, there are people who think it's insane that we worship a person who died and came back to life that we've never seen and trust in books written thousands of years ago. I can see how, on some level, people might find that very strange.

What has always bothered me about Scientology is the insincerity of L. Ron Hubbard. He actually set out to start a "church" for profit and as his own, personal, sociology experiment (possibly part of the reason he tried to steer his followers away from things like psychology). I can understand someone starting a church because they want to genuinely help mankind or because they believe God has spoken to them or something like that. Hubbard's reasons just astound me, though! And, make me wonder how anyone could take him seriously.

                            From the article:

Scientology -- the term means "the study of truth," in the words of its founder and spiritual messiah, the late science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard -- calls itself "the world's fastest-growing religion."
Well, now I know they're smokin' crack.

Islam is the world's fastest growing religion in the world. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the fastest growing faith in the United States (and projected to outstrip Islam in growth rate by 2080).

                              • Scientology revs up to join NASCAR circuit

Will Scientologist Tom Cruise find new "Days of Thunder" with NASCAR?
Don’t be surprised if Tom Cruise becomes a NASCAR fan. Scientology is getting into the wildly popular race sport.

“Dianetics,” the book written by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, is sponsoring a racing team — dubbed “Ignite Your Potential” — that will tour the NASCAR circuit. A Dianetics Racing Web site is being set up for fans.

Driver Kenton Gray credits Hubbard’s work with making him a good driver. “It’s markedly improved my focus and my consistency,” he said in an announcement from Hubbard’s publisher. “Through ‘Dianetics’ I’ve handled stress and increased my performance and ability to compete—both on the track and in life.”

“Scientology makes a point of recruiting celebrities as a part of it’s marketing appeal,” says a source. “If this is another marketing appeal — reaching out to the NASCAR crowd — it’s brilliant.”

“We’re not out selling a product,” Grant Cardone, the CEO of Freedom Motorsports, the company behind the car, told The Scoop. But he says, he too, is a fan of “Dianetics,” and if the Ignite Your Potential car helps troubled people, “that would be great.”
