Exactly. Thank you to those who understand. I'm not saying that you need to be in stilettos and a pencil skirt to look good and wear this outfit to the playground. I'm saying that yoga pants should be worn for exsercise and if you're not doing yoga or jogging or whatever, you shouldn't be wearing an elastic waist. Period. Are you in the back yard rolling in the grass? Then, go ahead and wear yoga pants. Are you in the grocery store or dry cleaners? Get out of those yoga pants!

Same goes for Clarks and Meryls. Ballet flats and driving mocs are just as comfortable. And before you disagree, go try some on.

I really need to get out of this forum. I have a very thick skull when it comes to this, and I promise that I am listening. It's just that sometimes I think to myself, Pshaw, I don't have the time, money, energy, wherewithal to put myself together once a week let alone every day. The thing is, I don't buy new clothes. Most of the clothes I am currently wearing are over 3 years old, some more. Yes, that's right, I saved my clothes from the last time I was this size. I would say MOST of the clothes in my closet don't fit me. I really don't have the money to throw everything I own away though. I wear clothes that are too small or too large a majority of the time. It's sad, actually. I AM changing sizes, and I can't buy a new wardrobe for every style/change of season in every size I change into. It's a little daunting to say the least.

I never take my clothes to the dry cleaner, so that isn't a problem If it has to be dry cleaned, I don't buy it. I can't afford to pay for dry cleaning.

I am 5'9". I can't wear heels! I feel like a huge person anyway, and I will dwarf my husband. I have a pair of Clarks that I wear nearly every day.

They are kind of like this sans buckle, and probably a smaller heel. I can't find a picture of them, because I have had them for probably 4 years. They are looking worn, but so am I. They are size 11's by the way. Most of my shoes are 10 Wide Width (Yeah, the other 4 pair). Do you know how hard it is to find shoes that are cute in that size without spending a fortune? A fortune to me is more than $20, as I have said, and I can't afford a closet full of shoes at this point.

I feel so disheartened. I don't even know where to start. That's why I feel the way I do, like I should just give up.

        Heidi-

Not having the money to buy new clothes is disheartening. I know, we all know what that's like.

That's why I'm just now replacing 8 year old exercise bras. When I did have income it had to go to things like work clothes and a suit to wear to court in Russa, etc.

and my 18 pairs of birks were bought back when we had two incomes, one of which was pretty disposable!

You'll get there. Once Chad is done, you can splurge.

PS- just one more way the medical spouse makes unintentional sacrifices.

Heidi, since your sizing is only moving in one direction right now, what about taking stuff in? Professional alterations are still much cheaper than buying new stuff and may be you even know someone with a sewing machine who'd be willing to trade favors.

As soon as Chad is done, I promise to fly in and take you shopping. Or fly you up to NY. Your choice. Start making a wish list.

You guys are too kind. Professional alterations on my capris?

Maybe you could give me an idea for a spring/summer wardrobe for less than $100?

            Probably size 16, 16W, or 18. XL or 1X.

I think in a few weeks I might be able to fit 16s.

Here are some virtual models of me. Though, I think I am a bit flabbier than this.

Heidi, if I were you, considering you probably won't be wearing your clothes for more than this season, I would just go to old navy like others hav suggested. That way you might be able to pick up on a trend or two w/ out blowing a lot of $$. Seriously, buying new clothes is fun when you become smaller, it's just that you will continue to be the ISW(incredible shrinking woman), therefore obviously I am sure you will save the big spending for when you reach goal!!
