We send cards, but that's about it.
I buy them and sign them.

She loves the other one. I may be too late though.
I like that idea! Where can I order one of those?

I normally buy our grandmothers, mothers, and sometimes our aunts (we are both close with our aunts) Mother's Day cards and try to print a cute pic of DD to put in it. Then I'll buy my mom a little something under $30. She's shocked and thrilled every year.

This year I asked for a Dustbuster or something like it. We threw away our vacuum cleaner in NC before we moved here and I really need a little something to vacuum the sectional. Then a couple days ago I changed my mind and requested a fully loaded picnic basket. And now I can't make up my mind because awesome picnic baskets are stupid expensive.

Maybe I've been watching too much Downton Abby.

I've gotten to the point that I dislike Mother's Day. My mom is passive aggressive about the holiday and no one thinks to help my kids get something for me.

Is it terrible that I just want a break from my kids for mothers day?

My mother always told us that it's not how you treat her on mother's day, but our relationship on the rest of the days of the year that count. I've never given a crap about the day, until my MIL sent us a missive detailing how much we disappointed her for not honoring her on her special day. Now I actively loathe the day and it causes me much stress and anxiety. Sigh.

The Meyer lemon tree was from a local nursery and the succulent wreath is etsy

I took my mom out to lunch today, for an early Mother's Day. I gave her a bracelet too. Dh took me to the local gift/jewelry store to get sized for an Ed Levin bracelet I've been eyeballing but too cheap to buy. He then brought the kids back to "pick it out". Can't wait to get it on Sunday. Lol! We will prolly go out to eat for breakfast/brunch or lunch.
Dh is in charge of his bitch of a mother. But hasn't once in almost 15 years, given her a card.

I only have one, and that sounds... very nice.

I got a monogrammed Vera Bradley tote bag for MILK and fussy monogrammed hand towels for my mom. Neither will arrive before mothers day, I'm afraid but I think both gifts suit them. MILK loves personalized things, Vera Bradley, and never travels light. My mom cannot carry a tote bag but she likes having her friends over for mahjong and girly embellishments for her home.

Yup, once I called my mom the day before and not ON Mothers Day and she has never forgiven me.

And the year my nephew was born (he was in the NICU for a bit because his sinus cavities are deformed and he couldn't nurse because he couldn't breathe) and he was only 4 weeks old, my sister forgot to call and again it hasn't been forgiven.

                            I'm over it.

My mom sent us girls a note tonight saying not to get her or dad anything because we are planning this family trip in August, great. DH is on his own with MIL though I'll get her a card and hide it in my purse in case I need it bc I'm having lunch with her the Tuesday after and I suspect she'll have something for me .

We don't give them for father's day either. We just do cards.

This is us, too . We always buy cards and take them out for dinner and call it good. No gifts from us assholes either.
