My kids brought me breakfast in bed with help from dad and dad got me a nice new coach purse which i'll be returning today because its gigantic and I would never carry a purse that large. But it was very sweet.

Dh is great with Mother's Day. He always tries to get the day off. This year, his request wasn't granted. He made friday night reservations to celebrate early (he's not a reservation guy), gave me awesome gifts, and had flowers delivered for today (they were delivered a day early by the florist). My kids put on a "mommy show" for me in my room and brought me breakfast in bed. Iced tea and cereal because I won't let them carry hot coffee. I love Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas here.

DH took DS to run some errands this morning before church.
I am enjoying a nice, quiet morning routine and some HGTV.

We will take pictures today before church, and hopefully reveal the bump as well.

            Bump! Yay!!

DH remembered. That was enough for me. He actually remembered on Friday and gave me a little present Friday, on yesterday, and my card today. He's working today, but we spent all day together yesterday. We also got A shoes to match Mommy's. She's in heaven!

I freaking hate this day. As usual not one person thought of me. No one helped my kids do something for me. But total obeisance to my mother is expected.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, but it hurts.

Aww, HoW. I've been thinking about you and I'd help if I was there. (Hugs)

On Friday, I flipped out and told DrK I needed a mental health break. K1 has outgrown the toddler bed. We are moving the boys into separate bedrooms which requires that I empty part of the basement so we can relocate the office, declutter and empty the office, purchase two box springs, two mattresses, bedding for two full beds, black out curtains, and art for the second room so it is welcoming for K2. And I need this all to come together at the same time because once we begin taking apart toddler beds, we need to assemble everything before bedtime. Yet, I cannot get away from DrK and the kids long enough to get this done.

On Friday, DrK confessed that he had not gotten me anything for Mother's day and asked if I wanted anything for the kitchen. Grr. I told him that I wanted time to get things done in the house. I wanted him to watch the boys without interrupting me every 10 minutes, I wanted to go to a couple yard sales to find some pictures for K2's room, etc. So that's what I got. He's been watching the boys while I clean the basement and office and pull together everything for the big bedroom swap. So glamorous, amiright?

I thought of you this morning, Kris. . That sucks. FWIW, my DH has been a total slacker for Mothers Day two years in a row. He's done Nothing. Nada. Mother's Day falls between his birthday and my daughters birthday and always gets lost in the shuffle. BUT, good news. My teen son, 17, texted me last night from Target. He and his friends were out Mothers Day shopping and he wanted to know what I'd like. Sooooooo, eventually, they get old enough to do it themselves. It's so much sweeter then , too. And C will be the sweetest when he is able. He will always remember how much you've sacrificed to be such a great mom all alone to the two kids.

                  *hugs*

I know. And isn't that big of a deal. It's just the hypocrisy that stings.

Kris, BIG BIG HUGS! Do the kids not doing anything at school? My kids would not have had anything for me if they had not made them at school and A's Daisy leader took the troop to one of those ceramic painting places. Single moms work the hardest and probably get the least recognition on a day like today especially when their kids are little.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to turn this into a "woe is me" thread.

So sorry Kris. If it makes you feel any better DH has done nothing. We usually would go to breakfast but DD has a fever. DH actually just left to go study. I have a glamerous day ahead of folding laundry and taking care of a sick baby with a stir crazy toddler.
