Right now without the windchill it's -29. Holy crap.
Yesterday I treated myself to some heavy duty night cream. My skin was starting to revolt! As I walked the 5 seconds from my car to the building, my whole face almost became numb.
Just flippin nuts.Flynn

It is currently -14 here with windchill of -30. Yesterday I went to the store and was so pissed b/c some jerk off stole my parking space which meant I had to walk farther, that is just rude - but in this weather it is ruder than rude.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

It's really bad out. Between the apt and where our car is parked is very close, but you have to cross a street. There was a gust of wind and it took my breath away while I was waiting for the light to change (yes, one of those things that we do in Seattle) . The wind was so strong and SO cold.married to an anesthesia attending

Seriously. They closed the schools today because it is so cold! In the heat you worry about dehydration and sunburn...easily prevented conditions in everyday life...the cold might claim an appendage while walking from the parking structure to your, oh, say, office! By the time I reached my building a mere block away, I was worried that I might not be able to continue to make my legs work!!! I officially hate winter and the Midwest for making it so horribly cold.Gwen

Ok- I have to whine about the way this unreasonable cold stuff is handled. Ok, so people choose to live somewhere where the windchill is below zero. I don't really understand that, but whatever. However, reasonable accomodations should be made. In Florida we had these beautiful things called Farm Stores --- sort of like a drive-up 7-11. You could get a gallon of milk, or some bread, and yes - even beer without leaving the car. This would make SO much sense here! Where are the drive up stores? Where? Yesterday I warmed up my car, threw the kids in and drove to McDonalds and bought 4 individual milks to get us through until today
Also- no valet....anywhere. This is the first place I have ever lived where there is no valet at the mall. Not that I ever needed valet before, but I sure would use it now! It would keep you from having to throw your kids back into a freezing cold car. Teenage boys could make a fortune with a car warming service at shopping centers.
Ugh. I just don't understand.Rebecca, wife to handsome gyn-onc, and mom 4 awesome kiddos: 8,6,4, and 2.
