I also thought it was illegal to have all of the campaign materials around the polling locations. But it's true, I voted in Center City (Philly) and they had tons of Obama people policing the lines and giving out TONS of free stuff. I thought it seemed a bit pushy...and odd. Either way it is over now!

It's within a certian distance of the polling place. There were Pat Roberts supporters camped outside of our school yesterday (polling place), so I went and put an Obama sign right next to all of the other signs when I picked Quinn up from school. One of my friends (who I'd assumed was republican, it's a topic you get into very slowly here) saw me, stopped, rolled down her window and yelled "Yay Jenn! Barack it baby!"

I put my sign farthest from the building, just so there would be no chance I was violating the distance rule.

I always find the gauntlet of campaign materials/hand shakers at the poll slightly amusing. I keep my head down and march by. I'm surprisingly uptight about political confrontations! I know that people are just doing their thing, but how many votes do you get outside the door? Talk about undecided!

Of course, I do the mail in ballot now but when I lived in a state with voting booths and used it, I never saw this. Must be the fringe benefits of living in a swing state, I guess.
