Cabin fever has set in today. I live in an apartment building and I go talk with the old ladies at the front desk just to do something. J is on call today so its just me and the cat. The snow has finally let up a bit, but the wind is making it all fly around anyway. They are calling for a chance of snow for Monday. Its going to be the longest winter ever.

Heard Martin O'Malley on the radio saying that Mid Atlantic states were not prepared for storms of 45-50 inches. Uh....yeah. That really puts a cramp in your commute. Did you guys in the DC area get 40 inches today or was that drifting or cumulative with the storm a few days ago? 45 inches three days after 36 inches is pretty spectacular.Angie

I think we got somewhere around 3 feet but I don't know if it's still snowing. Our wonderful neighbors had to make 4 runs to make the driveway somewhat passable. We haven't left the house all day though. I don't think DH minds "wasting" his vacation days anymore.
I'd love to get out tomorrow but with the interstate officially closed, I'm not sure what the local roads look like.

I have been going out every hour shoveling a path from the back door to the yard for the dogs. A tree just came down blocking the path!Attached FilesLuanne

All of my people have electicity and are safe and warm. My brother is going stir-crazy since my SIL decided that she HAD to go to 'work' and needed to stay that the W hotel where the function that she's supposed to be doing tomorrow night (riiight). Whether their marriage survives her never being home is a discussion for another day. But he's going on Day Five of dealing w/ my nephews. (I was completely sympathetic)
My cousin sent out a bulletin that they'd run out of Jim Beam, which for my cousin's husband could be a crisis.
My parents reported an hour ago that it's still snowing on Kent Island, in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay.

We got 12-13 inches here today, and at last check, it is still snowing outside. The wind is howling like crazy, I think we may have met the criteria for blizzard conditions this afternoon. I went out to shovel the driveway and I almost fell over a couple of times. I got lucky and the plow guy plowed the end of our driveway so DF had somewhere to park when he came home. I will have to attach pictures later, I haven 't uploaded them from my phone yet.
Everything here is completely shut down. State of emergency, major highways around Philly are closed. No school tomorrow, and with the holiday weekend, most of them won't set foot in a classroom again until Tuesday. My institution of higher education has been closed since yesterday evening and will be closed through the day tomorrow. The advent of technology meant I still had to do an online posting by 12 PM today, boo hiss.
Oh L. Jane! I feel your pain, I really do. I haven't seen any family or friends since last week. I talked to my stepmom for 2 hours this afternoon, so that helped a little bit. I've got things to do related to the wedding, but I don't have much drive to do them........ And I hate to say this, but there are whispers that there may be snow again at the beginning of next week (Monday/Tuesday). I can handle a few flakes or 1-3 inches, but I don't think I can take another storm. Just need to keep reminding myself that spring is 5 weeks away!!Event coordinator, wife and therapist to a peds attending

I just heard our count is 18 inches today. I have shoveled the driveway several times today, and I just went out a couple of hours ago and the snowplows had left snow blocking the driveway that reached my chest!!!! I cleared that out just in case DH makes it home tonight.Luanne

Our final count was 20 inches. I hate cold weather and snow, but must admit it is pretty. We only lost one tree so I consider us lucky.Luanne

It has been snowing since 7a this morning. BUT it is beeeeautiful. Not too cold outside, big fat flakes and lots of them. Tomorrow when I have to dig my car out will be another story (working from home all day). Today, I will enjoy the scene outside. Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Our retired neighbors are kind enough to plow our driveway (they know I'm due any day) and all the streets are totally clean, so we ventured out of the house today. I got my nails done (didn't jump start anything) and we walked around an outdoor mall a bit. But I hear there's more snow coming this weekend.

6-8" of snow. In the suburbs of Dallas. Kids and I played in the snow instead of having school today. We'll most likely do the same tomorrow since it's supposed to keep snowing until midnight. It started around 3am.Veronica
