    That's funny.

My SIL has them done about quarterly to manage her really thick tends to frizzy hair. She gets comped though because she's the salon's PR person.

I was thinking I wish they would come up with a name that didn't make my inner 16 year old snicker every time I say it.

The most important thing is to find a good salon that does it. There are so many blowout's out there that are no good at all. The best one I can find is keratin complex. Many of them use chemicals that can damage you hair. In order to do the keratin complex you have to take a class that cost $$ and buy a kit which cost lots of money, that is why you will find that it cost $$. Sometimes the saying you get what you pay for, holds true.

I mean would you go somewhere that offered a 2 haircut, and expect a 50 one? Because that is about how much of a markdown they are giving on the blowout. I say just research alot about it, and ask lots of questions about the service and the experience they have...

Ditto. I told my mom about them and she said "What?!"

I have had the official Brazilian Blowout done twice. My hair is extremely thick, curly and frizzy. I'm black so when I say my hair is curly and thick I mean it! The place I have gone to have a price starting at $250 and going to $350. Because my hair is so thick, I get charged the most. My curls are much loser, most of the frizz is gone, and I can straighten my hair very quickly now. I've had it done twice. It is a miracle worker.

As for the shampoo and conditioner, I was told that you have to use a sulfate-free one because it not it will strip the treatment out of your hair. I only use the shampoo and conditioner made by The Brazilian Blowout.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but the treatment is actually supposed to be very good for your hair.

My sister had something like this done to her hair. It cost several hundred dollars and she had to sit at the salon for almost 6 hours. It was supposed to last about 6 months. She is VERY happy with it. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, or if she got the Japanese version....she was debating between two "treatments."

I just looked it up on her Facebook....she had the Yuko treatment....the Japanese one. I don't what the difference is though. But like I said, she's so happy about it she's still talking about it and it's been almost 6 months already.

It think the main differences between the Yuko and the BB is that Yuko is permanent and completely takes the curl out. The BB actually wears out after three months, returning your hair to normal, plus you still retain curls with it. With the BB I still wear my hair curly a lot, it's just not surrounded by a halo of frizz and not as thick now.

My mother paid for my first BB ( I have no shame in that!) and my 2nd one was only $180 because of a special. I'm trying to figure out if I will actually cough up $350 for the next one. But goodness, it has changed my whole outlook on my hair.

My mom (who had curly hair) now has short, all grey and wiry hair. I just had her do the BB and her hair looks healthier than I have ever seen it. It is also so manageable. I have also noticed that my hair now dries quicker. The stylist said that is a sign of healthy hair...who knows??? I use to always put it up and now I have been wearing it down more because it is so much easier to style.

Like I said I've had it for two months. I have not used the BB products (my stuff was sulfate free - and I had just bought them). I also wanted to see if you reeeally needed the BB products or if it was just another way for the salon to make extra. I love my salon/stylist but their products are so expensive - I always get them for less (plus a bonus stuff) if I go through Ulta.

The first place I went to gives you the conditioner and shampoo and no additional charge, which is really nice.

I'd like to believe that...but they probably include it in the price for a BB. My salon is the only place in town that can do the BB - I hope they don't get greedy and raise the price because as much as I love it, I do not think that I would pay much more now that I see what other's are paying.

Are you paying much less that $300? The place that included the shampoo and conditioner charged the same as everyone else here who did not include it. So I definitely got a deal.

I paid $250...which is what I had seen advertised while I was in D.C. last year. My mom's was $360 - including the shampoo/cond/daily treatment...but she has short hair. This is why I think the price is going up at my salon.

There are times when you can find deals. The salons in Macy's, I forgot what they are called, had a special on the BB for $180. I just got that done a few weeks ago.
